Because they need their invisible sky savior to comfort them from the idea of not existing in any way, shape or form when they die.

Well, actually that's the big reason. There are many other smaller reasons....

All the reasons combined make up organized religion in a nutshell....

why would anyone believe there isn't?
I'm so sorry that you're so bitter and your soul so painful

nature teach us that a human could not have made this world.
you said you have never seen a god.........
a god is anything one puts over himself, weather it be looks, money, home, car or anything you feel is worth worshiping.
you also breathe air which isn't seen nor do you know if it was coming or if it was going when you felt it, but nevertheless it was air.........the bible say....
"he that saith in his heart that there is no God is a fool"
if us believer bothers you, well that's good.
maybe you will become a believer soon as well.
it don't really matter what i say or what you say, but if the bible is right [which i believe it is] we'll both stand before the ALMIGHTY GOD one day.
until then i wish you well and pray that you receive knowledge.
bye for now........

Because He taught us about the difference between there and their, and the necessity to use a capital letter on a proper noun.

Either that, or some people have a deep spiritual yearning--a concept with which you are doubtless unfamiliar.

Messed up alien? Who me? It's the first time I've ever been accused of that!

Believe you me, I have every intention of leaving you alone. Your religious beliefs (or lack of them) are no concern of mine, and I would appreciate the same courtesy.

Belief is an act of the intellect.

To believe is to hold as true. We believe, i.e. hold as true, that God exists because we want to seek God and we don't seek that which we don't believe exists. As long as God hasn't been proven false, a belief in God is a rational belief.

We want to seek God because we have in our hearts a desire for the love of God. Others believe that God doesn't exist because they have a desire to be independent of God so that they can do what they want.

If you look at the universe or at your body, you will come to know that there is controller behind. This is not a belief, but infrence at gross level. At a subtle level, God is beyond mind and senses. For this you need to realize God at your own.

It beats having to think of real solutions. Almost like an irresponsible child.

Simpler than that. The old cuddly stories of jesus and the like were told to them as kiddie-winkies and they loved the idea. They grew up still loving the idea.
So sad.

I believe God is there because I know within heart of hearts that He is there. He really does listen and feel Him there with you, watching over you. God bless you and I will pray for you.
