Why do you want to get off Paxil? If it works for you, taking it beats being depressed? However, if you want to decrease depression and improve your mental health, try exercising 4-5 days a week for 30-45 minutes a day. It's been proven to work.

Yes.

First, make certain you really do eat a healthy diet. There are certain foods and herbs that help the body (and the brain IS part of the body!) produce the chemicals that you probably already lack. This is why you are taking an anti-depressant. For instance, by eating or taking supplements of Omega 3 fatty acids your body will make it's own serotonin level go up. This is what paxil does, but Omega 3 fatty acids are natural, not chemical. (do you know that medical science doesn't really know how anti-depressants work? they can't really measure how much serotonin you have, so they just medicate you until you "act okay"). Overall, a healthy diet and excercise truly is very important for good mental health.

Finding a good counselor can help you sort out things in your head. This means you have to work at changing your thinking and probably the way you perceive the world. It isn't always easy, but talking about your life and getting unbiased feedback can be really helpful.

Taking on a new hobby can be very helpful, or getting back into interests you might have lost because of depression. Any time you are spending living life you are not focused on being depressed.

I beat three attempts at suicide and a horrible depression while my marriage was falling apart without drugs. I outright refused them. I'm still here and much more at peace inside myself than I think I ever have been. You can do it. You don't need drugs, you just need to make a few life adjustments.

I have been suffering from post partum depression for the past one year when I gave birth to a baby boy. I couldn't stop thinking about how my husband loves him more than me and how things might be better if he wasn't born at all. Thus, I stayed away from him because I knew that I might do something I will regret for the rest of my life.

Almost instantly I went to a therapist and convince them that I need help. Among other things, I've tried herbal supplements and other book to treat depression but nothing works like the Depression Free Method. So now I'm proud to say I'm one of the happiest mother in the world. My husband loves us both very much and I thank the Lord for the blessing he gave us.

Depression Free Method?

Paxil is a existence-saver for me. I do not particulary like a few of its facet results, was once worn out of them after three-12 months use, however no different meds gave the impression to work for me. I was once on lexapro, every other non ssri meds... Nothing helped. About advert meds, their result fluctuate in my opinion. If which you could find the money for risiking it, let your health care provider try more on you. I've in no way been in crisis the place i would put my potential to operate often in hazard, that is why i stayed with paxil.

The only reason to quit psych meds slowly is to avoid a muscle spasm. As far as the mental disorder is concerned it will probably be there and even have a worse depression pain as a reaction to no more chemicals. It will wear off and if you want to be free it has to be done this way. After fifteen years don't bother quiting the meds. The brain is damaged by then.

Read section 2, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and begin the core treatments, but get medical advice as to how many weeks to taper off, before trying herbal remedies, SAMe, or Inositol.

No one can really answer this without knowing your other physical symptoms to consider. Your doctor is the one to ask as they can safely put you on something else and lower your dosage without symptoms, or help you quit it by lowering it. The main thing is not to go cold turkey!

With your doctor gradually lowering the dose so that your body does not have a big dump and crash. That's why it's not good to do it alone.
