Well, where should they be?

I think that everyone should be allowed anywhere they choose. It is a public forum and many questions are directed towards them either directly or indirectly, so why not come and either answer or defend themselves from all of the attacks.
Yes, some come to argue, have fun and also there is no category that specifically says Atheist section.
Just because they don't believe in a god does not mean they don't have answers for those that do. Also, they keep everyone thinking and asking more and more questions, so what does it hurt?

You will have gathered by now that this same inane question has been asked MANY times before. Do you think that you had had an original thought?
It ought to be very clear that there just HAS to be two (or more) opposing opinions for there to be a debate. This isn't JUST for asking questions, as it CAN be to discuss a relevant topic.
It also ought to be clear to an open mind that, if only religious folk frequented these pages, there would be no searching questions about the validity of religion. There would only be jesus-freaks reassuring each other that their fantasies were actually reality. There would be constant prayer requests. Scripture quotes to bolster and reinforce delusions.
It MUST be clear to you that one does NOT have to be suffering from cancer to be interested in discussing the possibility of a cure. By the same token, one does not have to be suffering the delusion of a religion to be interested in how religion interferes with clear thought, how religion interferes with scientific advances (stem cell research being one example), how religion creates more problems globally than any other single concept, how religion interferes with government and, very sadly, education.
Now, if you would prefer that no-one challenged the reality of your fantasies and would prefer to be left alone to wallow in your ignorance ... tough poo! We are here for a number of very valid reasons and you appear to be one of those reasons.
Cope with it or back off?
Try thinking up a really profound question next time, if you are capable. As it is, no religious folk can come up with any credible answers, let alone good questions.
Ipso facto. I rest my case. Your witness.

Atheists are trapped into a religious category because of other religions, most are here to do some study, have a few laughs and otherwise question the belief system. They see things in a different light and would like to share it just like the opposite side would like to enforce their beliefs. They donate questioning of reasons and give legitimate proof or positioning on their topic to support their cause. To say Atheists have no place among religion would be enforcing your belief again an inference to the idea, believe or die, believe or go to hell, believe or disappear. Let's not forget all mankind has the ability to think and to question, what a waste a life would be if we failed to use these precious and essential tools. Happy Travels.

I'll make you a deal...

We'll stay out of the Religion section when the religious fundies stop popping into the Science section to once again voice their ill-informed objections to the theory of evolution by natural selection.

Deal?

EDIT: Oh for crying out loud...do I have to explain EVERYTHING!?!?

Why aren't you in the mythology section? Religions are nothing more than myths.

Addition:

Perhaps if you require an explanation for what a spiritual atheist is, you should go back to school or read a book before you ask questions that only serve to put your ignorance on public display.

Atheists have as much right to theological debate as theists do.
Are you saying that our rights should be curbed because we hold different beliefs to you?
I know of a place that existed from the 1930s to 1945, it was called Nazi Germany. It was ruled by a man called Adolf Hitler, he also believed that people who held certain beliefs should have their rights curbed.

We must defend our reputation from the Christians who post bad things about us such as that we have no morals etcetera. We are spreading the truth about atheists and just helping educate people about our thoughts, believe it or not a lot of Christians want to know about them. Personally I find this the most interesting section because I know the most about it and have a lot of opinions I want to share.

Ooh that's a nice one Ninja Turtle.

Believers are an enigma. I'm still trying to figure them out. Why is it that the majority of the so called normal people in the US are religious? They`re delusional. One would think it would be the other way around.

I think it is absolutely fascinating that grown adults can have an imaginary Friend and think that everything is OK. Wtf? Did I walk into a parallel Universe or something? Somethings wrong here.

Why do people ask questions in Cats? It is for questions pertaining to the category title, not for those who meet the description.
