My best guy friend just graduated from the police academy.
I am buying him engraved handcuffs online and am putting his name....but under it you can put something else.

I'm looking for something short and meaningful.....not the department number or anything like that..

Something maybe poetic about friendship or love.

Any ideas??? 10 points to best answer!!!

You could always have his graduation date or mandate class number engraved on them instead.

The thought is sweet but not all that practical.

The poor guy... he is going to get teased unmercifully by his fellow officers. Plus you are opening the possibility of some defense attorney making a point from some poetic or friendly saying on handcuffs - a tool of the trade never used in a friendly manner while at work.

I had the wife's drivers license number engraved on the cuffs I got her for our 1st Christmas. They always came back to the owner.

Honestly? Two things:

1) Those cuffs are going to go on some of the most disgusting, gross, slime covered people on the face of the planet.

2) Some of the suggestions here are just giving fuel to a fire that anyone he arrest could start by saying he uses the cuffs to humiliate his arrestees, he is on a power trip, he is only trying to arrest enough people to get his quota (and earn his toaster oven), etc. ;)

If you want to get him something meaningful and engraved (or that has your own words on it) maybe a small congratulatory plaque with something nice engraved on it. Those cuffs are going to be so gross you wouldn't ever touch them if you knew what they had on them, let alone, want them to be a "memorable" item that he is attached to.

Just my $.02 after spending a decade using them.

Cops in my area must have their ID and name on the cuffs...
they do it at the station house with a cheap vibro-engraver.

Maybe something nicely engraved like
Return to Sender.

The cuffs you give him will be for display in a case on his wall at home. they will never be used on a bad guy. the department issues cuffs to be used.

There is no greater gift than to serve others. or You are my hero!

I was going to say "To Protect and to Serve" until I saw that Lyn beat me to it. I gave her a thumbs up.

You are a thoughtful person, hope he appreciates the nice gift.

How about his badge number. Its not poetic, but it will help guarantee that he gets his cuffs back.

maybe a bible verse about friends.... John 15:13 is my fave... Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
if thats too long you could just put the refrence!!!
