I am so mad. Looking at my credit card statement I noticed a $29 late fee. I pay my credit cards online and noticed I made a payment on Oct. 3rd. Oops, it was paid 2 days too early and the billing cycle ends on the 5th so I in fact made 2 payments for Sept. Arrrrg. Has this happened to you? Think I can get the charge reversed? I'll call them tomorrow but I want your opinion. Thanks

They might if you ask nice and don't claim it wasn't your fault.

I am really not sure what you are asking.

Did you pay early and they charged you again with the late fee. Or did you already paid it and was trying to make the next payment, but was too early. If you are in good standing, then they might do it.

Credit card companies are sneaky, I am not sure about online payments, but they have been known to purposely hold a payment until it's late.

I think I know this situation. I have done the same and it sucks. I made two payments in one month, thinking I was making two monthly payments. Then they hit me for the late fee for the second monthly payment I THOUGHT I was making!

Aaagghhhh!

Like was said, ask real nice. If you have been a customer for a long time and have always paid on time, remind them of what a good customer you are. Lots of companies want your CC business!

It depends on the company, I submitted a payment online once and it was 10 days early, and it never went thru because i was stupid and put in the wrong number,
and I just thought they were slow to process it. they finally posted to my account late fee's, and returned check fee's. which was stupid becuase i didn't have a returned check.

they reversed the late fee but not the returned check fee. which i would have totally paid on time had i known what had happened.

anyway i didn't mind paying the one fee, they were both the same amount, so i just pretended it was a late fee, because it was my fault for entering the wrong checking account number

they may reverse it for you... all you can do is call....

I think you need to call Bestbuy. What might be going on is that you are paying so early that it is showing up on the prior month's activity. For example, your statement period ends on July 25th. They want a payment by August 15th in order to close your next statement by August 15th. If you make a payment July 23rd intending for it to get to them by July 28th, it might actually get there on July 24th and therefore be before the cutoff and too early. Another thing you want to look at is what the effective posting date of your online payments is, particularly if you are using online bill pay with your bank. With some banks, your "online" payment is just something that your bank makes into a paper check, which is mailed once a week to the vendor you wanted to pay. The vendor then has to handle that paper check, just like you mailed it, only it takes longer for them to deposit the check and give you credit because there is no payment stub for them to find out. Watch your statement carefully and find out when they give you credit for your payments. If it is more than 3 days after you made the payment, something else is going on and needs to be investigated.

Statements aren't usually up to date if you have made a payment within the last two wks. I always have crazy stuff like this happen to me. Just call in the morning and if worse comes to worse then tell the cc company that you will be leaving them one your balace has been paid in full, for a more credible company!

No, because I've never had a credit card company charge me a fee for not paying the minimum on time; they just charge me interest. A late fee? Sweet jesus, I suggest you switch credit card companies.

Come to think about it, I read in Maxim a while ago that if you tell your current credit card company that you're switching, they'll do everything they can, including waiving and lowering certain things, just to keep you as a customer. Try that.
