The one important item you left out of the question is:

What is their immigration status in the U.S.?

Obviously, if they are living here illegally, they will not have the proper documents to return to the U.S. and will be inadmissible. If they are inadmissible, they cannot return.

If they filed for asylum, their asylum application may be damaged if they return to their home country. An applicant who leaves the United States and returns to the country of claimed persecution is also presumed to have abandoned the asylum application, unless the applicant can provide compelling reasons for such return.

All that you told us is that they have Social Security cards, have lived here for 4 years, etc. None of that counts for very much.

The missing data is: What kind of travel documents do they have? If they do not have the correct documents to enter the U.S. to live, whoever told them that they can't return is right.

JR: You are a fool. You don't know how I feel about Mexicans, so don't speak for me. You are such an ignorant fool, why don't you enroll in an adult education program and get your high school diploma. You know, most people in the world speak at least 2 languages, so when it comes right down to it, many United States citizens are at a disadvantage for not speaking another language.

To answer the question posted, until immigrants in the U.S. without papers are given the opportunity to get legal authorization to be here, they are in a state of limbo and can't come and go. Basically, they are stuck. I don't agree the policy, but that is just the way it is right now. They might as well stay in the U.S., but it must be tough knowing so many people in the U.S. don't want them here.

Make a decision, here or there, and apply for a visa or apply for a renewal, if there working in a sweatshop they don't sound legal.

White America is not being represented on youtube or by one white supremest on Yahoo answers, we don't view ourselves as white America, we view ourselves as americans we are black, white, brown, tan, yellow or gray, we speak English as our first and main language but it's ok if you immigrate into the US and assimilate into an American, we all know how hard it is to learn a new language and no one should expect an older immigrant to learn english fluently but, you have to try to gain citizenship through the legal means, not jumping a fence or using a fake ID when you do that your breaking our laws!

Ah, key, the ssn they have must be a fake, your question says "non-US citizen". It does not state they pay income tax. They should go home, all three of them and fix their own country and encourage their fellow countrymen/women to do the same.

You fail to mention their citizenship status. Which leads me to the next question... how did they get social security cards?

Every time I read some crap like this about illegals who operate, "As If" , and they want you to share in that delusion and discuss with them as if they are real citizens....Everytime I read this kind of shtuff.... I wonder why these folks have more "Buts" than a normal person (outside of a freak show) and more excuses for wrong doing than OJ Simpson. It's mind boggling.

What is their immigration status?

If they are US citizens, they are entitled to leave and come back as they wish. If they are green card holders, they can leave for up to one year.

I am assuming they are not illegal, since they have SSNs.

They must make a choice. There are millions of people in the same situation, and no one knows what the outcome will be.

Go ahead and leave, unless they are from a country on the terror list, then it might be hard. Take care.
