I dont know whats wrong with it.I have a fan blowing into it and its as cool as its ever going to be. But when i play more than 45 minutes the thing shuts off. I dont know if its the new update i installed or what but its def not the heat. Anyone knows wats going on? i installed update 2.01..... there is no auto shut off under settings.......and it doesnt turn off b/c of the heat...i dont get the red light or anything...it just turns off

Get the fan away from it. Don't blow dust and moisture into it. THe ps3 if in a well vented area does fine cooling itself. Turn off the information bar. That should stop it from turning off.

I haven't heard of this happening before.
Where are the fans located exactly?
If they're located near the front of the PS3 where the sensor to turn off the game is, maybe the constant pressure of the air could be telling the sensors to turn off.
You could try moving the fans somewhere else.
If that doesn't work, it could be defective.
You can take it back to the store you bought it from and get a new one if you bought the insurance for the PS3.
Then again you can always contact sony on their site and see what they can doo for you.

I don't know what problems you could be having. If you have a PSP, turn the Remote Start feature off for your PSP and maybe that might solve the problem.
The PS3 should not be shutting off by itself for no reason. If you can't figure out what the problem is, you need to contact Sony.

Make sure the plugs are connected properly and that the vents are clear and not packed with dust so it wont overheat.
