If I was a born again, baptist church going bible thumping contributing member of the Christian faith, am i saved? I mean, I got on my knees and I prayed to God, i told him that I believed in him and I wanted to follow his son Jesus Christ. I even went to my pastor, and he prayed with me at church that Sunday. Trust me, if there is a right way to do it, I did it four years ago.

I was born again! I didn't get baptized though. I didn't have a chance to do so, we were on a quarterly schedule for them and fate never seemed to get me there. But that doesn't matter, right? Baptism for the remission of sin is unbiblical, correct?

Can my salvation be taken from me now?

Of course you are still saved, if you asked God into your heart then your saved. And unless you stop believing in Jesus then you would no longer be saved..

the guy before me said if you were baptized into a Mormon there's a chance you wouldn't be saved, we'll he's wrong...I am not a Mormon, I am a Christian. But I KNOW that whatever religion you are, just so long it is a religion that follows Jesus, then you are saved.

now I believe that some religions do things wrong, such as Mormons, as they follow a book, not the bible. And Jews who believe we are under the law, but Jesus died on the cross and got rid of the law

I think your pastor is wrong. I know lots of Pastor friends who are Baptists who believe like he does. I believe they are wrong.

The fact that you didn't get baptized is not the issue.

The issue is when you converted to LDS. At that point you stopped believing in the real Jesus.

The "once saved, always saved" teaching originated with John Calvin who was a contemporary of Martin Luther. Most Baptists and Presbyterians today are Calvinists.

In your case God didn't take away your salvation, you gave it back when you stopped trusting in the Jesus of the Bible and started trusting in Joseph Smith and the Mormon Jesus, which is not the same as the Jesus of the Bible.

There are too many warnings in the Bible that you can lose your salvation for me to believe you can't even lose it.

I would urge you to forsake the LDS and come back to the real Jesus.

If you were born again once thats all it takes, the baptism thats saves you is of the Holy Spirit and that happens when you get saved, Thats in Acts with Peter, as for LDS I know very little about their doctrine, you just have to ask yourself, do you believe Jesus is the Son of God or don't you, if you doubt in your heart then you have a problem, if you know Jesus is the son of God and he lives in your heart then you know you are saved Right? The Bible says in Hebrews chapter 9 I think Without the shedding of blood their is no remission of sins, Jesus shed the Perfect blood on the cross, the only blood that can take away sins. God bless you and Good luck!!!

One of the ways I knew when I was saved is I completely lost the desire to sin and no longer felt like I couldn't control myself when I was confronted with temptation.
I believe that true Christianity is a direct relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ and religion is man made beliefs, traditions and rules.
Religion is mans attempt at getting right with God but true Christianity is acknowledging that Jesus already did everything for you so there isn't any thing left for you to do but love God with all your heart and love one another and trust that Jesus will do everything for you through you.
I think that religion is the tree of knowledge of good and evil and teaches us that we can be like God through our own knowledge and understanding which is what lead Adam and Eve to sin in the first place.
It's saying "You don't need God to take care of you and save you because if your good enough and do all the right things you can save yourself."
But Jesus is the tree of Life and if we practice a direct relationship with Jesus and live by the spirit instead of by our own knowledge and understanding then we will be truly saved and not only saved but transformed from a descendant of Adam into a descendant of Jesus and His spirit will dwell within us and guide us always teaching us how to live according to the word of God and preparing us for the Kingdom of Heaven.
If we are led by the spirit we can't go wrong and as long as you are able to give your life to Jesus and let him take the drivers seat you'll always go places and understand things you never thought possible before.
There's many ways you can tell if you've been saved but the main one is if you love God with all your heart and only desire to live by His word and live for Him by allowing Him to live for you.
This is the gift we are freely given as a result of what Jesus accomplished for each and every one of us on the cross.
God bless you.

no one can take your salvation away from u,

Can I lose my salvation?"

You say one thing, other religions and ministers say something completely different, and both of you quote scripture to back you up. Why is there still such disagreement, and how can I know who is right when I’m no Bible scholar?

Well, it’s one thing, as I mentioned, for different groups to disagree on non-critical issues of doctrine. It makes no difference whether you, I ,or someone else is right where they're concerned. The crucial thing is to be absolutely certain your salvation theology is correct. If any of you remembers what LP records are, I’m going to start sounding like a broken one because I have to reiterate a few points.

When it comes to salvation, there will ultimately be two ways of approaching the issue and interpreting the scriptures. The first way is through the eyes of the Law--i.e. from a philosophy of salvation through works. Many “Christian” religions and scholars fall into the trap of interpreting scripture in this way. Those who interpret scripture through the Law will always conclude that a person must literally participate in his own salvation by meeting some standard of behavior in order to either get saved or to stay saved. Such a person might see verses in scripture along the lines of: He that doeth righteousness is righteous as He is righteous; For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; If any man be a worshipper of God and doeth his will, him he heareth, etc., and these scriptures will always reinforce his conclusion that a person’s salvation hinges not on faith alone, but ultimately on how righteously he lives.

The other means of intrepreting scripture will be through the eyes of Grace--i.e. through the understanding and acceptance that salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned, obtained, or even kept by any means other than faith and faith alone. Thus, when someone views those same scriptures through the eyes of Grace, he first of all dismisses any thought that they are commanding him to observe a standard of righteous living in order to be secure in his salvation. He knows that the truth of salvation and true righteousness is obtained not by obedience, but, as Paul says in 1st Corinthians 2:17--For therein is the righteousness of God revealed by faith to faith, and that this faith will produce real obedience. Paul later goes on to show how most of the Jews of his day, and how “Christians” in our own time, still fail to understand the truth of the scriptures they read because they refuse to interpret the scriptures through recognition of Jesus Christ through faith, but instead through the Law:

King James Bible

But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament*; which veil is done away in Christ.
But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.

Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.

If you converted to Mormonism, then you may have given up your salvation.

Consider the following: theres no such thing as "Mormon Archeology" and if you read the book "The God Makers" over 400 Mormon attorneys declined to go to court to say it was a fraud.

Morminism, is a fraudulent religion- I wish you the best of Gods Spirit for you to be led home

You were never saved.

God does not set up formulas to follow or rituals to partake in to get to be saved. Salvation is a gift you can never earn. We are justified by our works which prove we were already saved, not the other way around.
