7 years ago, I was arrested in Corsicana Texas . I was arrested for drugs I had a script for from Mexico, but I didn't kow it was illegal in the states. They told me it was legeal in Mexico when I saw the Dr. I got the scripts filled and they let me past the first 2 check points. They searched my belongings and waved me on. I was pulled over in Corsicana just south of Dallas for speeding. I was doinf 10 miles over the speed lmit. The drugs I had were Allegra, antibotisc, and sommas. The drugs are cheap in Mexico and I got enough for some of the people AI know that can't go see a dr, let alone pay for the meds. The cop insisited he was going to search my car. O.K. I had a 3/4 pound of pot for my use. Sure I knew it was against the law, but I also thought they needed an excuse to go thru your car. I use the pot for different things, but only in my house. It cost ne the loss of my husband, 7 thousand dollars, five yrs proabation. Now they want more. Do I have to pay forever?

I live in Nebraska. They can't decide for fear they are stepping on Texas toes. I am already dead, why can't they let me alone. I did my time.

Robert , You are right! There are MAN made substances that are soooooo much better than I use. The side effects are sooooo much better than the disease themselves. I like feeling sick to my stomach, diarrea, high blood pressure, bleeding ulcers, and they are to many to mention. Law can't make any money on pot, that is why that it is against the law! DUH!!!

Yes ... you may had a script for your meds in Mexico and yes it is only legal after the 2nd check point , after this it becomes illegal ... this is a fact and it stinks worse then a sewer! It is sad not everyone can see a doctor let alone afford the medications they need. Although the government can by drugs for anywhere and have no script for them ... the government is a dictatorship ... do as I say not as I do!
The Pot was for your own use ... for arthritis, sickness to the stomach, glucoma, induce hunger, and a few cancer treatments although the government allows this in treatment centers and by pill form ... like I said dictatorship!
If you were not selling it I believe it should of been left alone.
Just my beliefs! The indain tribes use things that only if the government was allowed to metal with would charge them too. These tribes have done this for decades and are excempt from the government metalling! What more do they want? Why? Have you contacted a lawyer about this?
You lost your husband, money, voters rights, and yourself.
People have done murders and gotten alot less. Dictatorship!
This country was once land of the free ... not no more! Now they band smoking ... yet they still sell it. Stepping on the smokier's right ... the right of life style ... there is a law about that. just no smoker's rights. They need to pick on the drinkers, as they kill more then a smoker. Next the government will be picking on the overweight people. Before you know it if you work in the medical profession you will have to be a certain weight as they will probably say the medical profession reflects on the workers and they have to be fit as an example that they are representing health or so more bull crap! If smoking causes health problems then so does over weight people chance health problems! Drinking causes health related problems too. Give me a break!!!!!
It will not stop ... the government is turning this free land into a dictatorship! Do what you have to do. Keep copies of everthing. Sell your place and move somewhere in the middle of no where. Go out when you have to and stock up on like can goods or goods that you can. Plant you a garden and keep animals around for protection and post no tresspassing signs all around you. You may be alone this way but, you will be left alone!

Well the above answer may be correct, I could not find anything on it except that divorces seem to be left to the states. As for most states, retirement divides on the date of the divorce and become separate property which can be moved over to the alternate payee's (person getting the other person's retirement $$$) own retirement account. BUT federal law trumps state law sometimes and there may be an act saying that these benefits disappear on remarriage. Get an attorney to do your divorce, preferably a retired military judge (every decent sized city seems to have one, I do not know why). One thing you may want to consider is not going after the retirement at all and instead trading your portion of the retirement for alimony payments. Alimony payments grant a tax break and while there may be some math involved, it basically allows you and your spouse to keep more of the money between you 2 instead of it going to the government. It also prevents you from having to wait on your money, even though you have to grant a discount for that payment (there is a 40% early withdrawl penalty on retirement so a middle ground adjusted for the alimony tax break - get an accountant if you can - will give you a fair number). To save on legal fees it is best for the 2 spouses to sit down (I know it can be hard) and divide up their assets and decide what a fair arrangement is BEFORE checking it with an attorney. The reason is the more work you do up front, the less the attorney can bill you for. Than have an attorney look over your arrangement and see if they think it is fair based on the law where you are getting divorced and what changes they recommend, then go back with your spouse and discuss the changes recommended by each of your attorneys then come to an agreement, have the attorney write it up and all you bring to the court is the issue of divorce (shorter hearing, usually 15-30 min).

Hey, I have a glass house too. I am not throwing stones. I wish I knew what to tell you. Can you talk to a lawyer? Have you tried? Sorry to hear about your husband. If they are still trying to get more from you it sounds like you need to talk to a lawyer. (or get your boys to step in - tough looking - just joking - I couldn't help commenting on your picture :-). Seriously though, I don't know enough about the law and don't smoke pot or anything so I don't know what you can do except the best thing is to talk to someone who does know the law. Good luck.

You pay a long time. I'm on 5 years probation right now, and I have finally learned to follow the rules completely because I don't want to go to jail. If it was up to me I would let you have the 3/4 pound back for personal use, and drop the felony from your record. But unfortunately for us both we have to live with felony convictions. Blessings

Damn right. Until you come to the realization that this is wrong. There are synthetic, legal substitutes for what ever medical purpose you may have intended it for. The weed for medicinal use argument has long past. Merely a flower child's dream fading away. Save your medicinal excuses. My great grandfather died of cancer. Along with a plethora of others before weed was an excuse. They died with honor, respect and dignity. Not as a pot head.

I have a feeling you have done this before. This time, you just got caught.

They want more of what? If you already served your time and probabtion then I don't see how they can ask for anything else. Is this the whole story that your telling? Did you not pay a fine or the court costs. I assume it was a felony conviction?

If this was your first violation then they should have given you probation and let you go; however many of these small towns, especially in Texas, want to make money and they hit you hard. If you live in another state then let them try to find you and make you pay. I wouldn't give them a dime. I am sympathetic because I think that the judicial system in America is rotten.

Truth is yes you will pay forever , loss of good paying jobs, loss of benefits, you will always be watched by the cops, loss of freedoms, etc.
You may not realize it yet you lost your social in-secerity.

Is this fare ? not always.
You got prescriptions for meds , somewhere you got screwed. many of our laws are unfair and/or sinceless
personally I see nothing wrong with getting and using your own meds. the TAX MAN/BIG BROTHER sees it differently

The pot , you knew better. you played the game and lost.
For over thirty years they have been putting people in prison for pot , many for far less than 3/4 lb. so you should have had plenty of knowledge about this gamble.
My older brother spent 7 years for only 3/4 ounce in Texas

What do they want more money for? They can't add expenses after the hearing. If ou have seved your time and paid the fines, then you aren't bound by it anymore. Is there anything else you aren't admitting to?

Well it depends. Are you still using drugs? Have you turned your life around?
If you are still struggling with those things and are breaking the law then yes you will continue to have problems.
My advice to you is figure out what you have to do to end this nightmare and do it. If you need to pay a monthly fine, pay it. If you haven't complied with your probation or court requests it will make your life miserable until you do. There is no way around it. If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing and they are still harassing you get a lawyer and see what can be done.
