if it is true, what kind of god do these Bible-fundamentalists have, doesn't their ever get satisfied? I thought to believe in Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior is enough to be saved, why are Catholics an exception when Catholics believe in the Divinity of Jesus Christ as well?

"Hopefully one day me and Catholic Crusader will be able to sit down and laugh about our discussions on here. Of course he will have realized I was right all along. lol."

Edge, or the other way around? have you considered that? or do you consider yourself as infallable? do you give yourself this too much credit? if so, where's humility that christians should exercise?

what always baffles me is how protestants take our catholic book, take books out of it and then tell us we are intrepreting it wrong despite the fact we have taught the same truths and doctrines for 2000 years.
http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/
look under the church fathers section on the top to see how catholic the early christians were.

truth is the catholic church that christ established is just like christ
the same yesterday today and forever.

protestants run the risk of not believing in the authentic jesus christ of the bible by not belonging to his church. for example many so called christians deny the trintity, the need for baptism and even the divinity and human nature of jesus christ!!!!!!!! the church came before the bible and the best evidence we have to know what the early christians believed come from the didache(did-a-k) and the writings of the early church fathers, you can find them at the link provided above. for those that don't know the didache(did-a-k) is believed to be the earliest christian document, preceeding the bible, it is the teaching of the 12(apostles). god bless.

for what catholics believe try this link

i noticed alot of the usual misconceptions finding there way into some answers, especially the blessed mother, i pray they use the link if only for a better informed understanding.

Some, but not all.

Some do, because there are some fundamentalists that think the Catholic Church is "the Beast" described in Revelations. So in this view, Catholics are deceived and aren't "real" Christians. They accuse Catholics of making Mary into a Goddess and not fully trusting in Jesus's sacrifice on the cross because of their belief in the importance of performing confession, penance, and taking Eucharist for salvation. For fundamentalists, confession should not be to a priest, penance is either unnecessary or "bad" (because it's "trusting in Works") and Eucharist is not a magically-changed piece of bread but just a symbolic remembrance.

But other fundamentalists are more open-minded, and say that if any Catholic has accepted Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, asked Him into his or her heart and made Him the "Lord of their life," then they are a Christian and will go to heaven, even if they are in a church that is wrong about many things.

I am a fundie and I believe many Catholics are going to Heaven. i say many because I do not believe any denomination will have all of their people go to Heaven. Catholics are Christians and there are several on here I look forward to meeting in Heaven. Hopefully one day me and Catholic Crusader will be able to sit down and laugh about our discussions on here. Of course he will have realized I was right all along. lol.

EDIT: The part about me being right all along was a joke. I imagine there will be some things I was right about, some he was right about, and some we were both wrong about. However we both believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior. So we are both right about at least one thing.

Catholics in general will fare no better or worse than any other who follows a false religion.

The Protestant doctrine you mention comes from ONE verse in Scripture, as if this were the entire teaching of the Bible:
Acts 16:31 -- So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

But Jesus taught that we need to live by EVERY word of God (Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). And, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven" (Matthew 7:21).

And this is were both Protestants AND Catholics fall short -- they do not seek to do the will of God. They have invented for themselves a new religion in which they don't have to do God's will. They make excuses like, "the commandments have been nailed to the cross," or, "those are from the Old Testament, and that was only for the Jews."

But God will not leave them in this sorry state. For along with all the rest of mankind, God will teach the truth and righteousness when the proper time comes. That's what the resurrection to judgment is for. At that time ALL (Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Moslem, Hindu, Wiccan, Atheists, etc., etc., etc.,...) will learn of the truth and learn how to live it. And then they will have their opportunity to enter into the eternal Kingdom of God.

Not all fundamentalists believe that...

If one knows God through a personal relationship with Jesus the Christ and has received the gift of salvation by grace through faith in the attonement provided by Jesus, then one is saved and will enjoy eternity in the presence of God...
I am not of Catholic belief, but will spend eternity with many who have worshipped in Catholic gatherings.

If you believe "condemned already" method a stern speakme to, then probably you're proper. Or possibly, "you might die on your sins" method you want a bathtub whilst you get to heaven, no longer rejection. There are plenty of locations within the New Testament that inform of rejection. If John three:18 is telling us the reality, then we have got to don't forget the "condemned already" announcement. Not best that, but in addition in that equal verse, now we have what one need to do in an effort to be no longer condemned, it on the whole says "consider", however whilst you seem up the Greek phrase, it is a bit extra than simply notion, it is believe. That method striking the notion into movement. The movement is to take delivery of what God mentioned over what any one else is announcing. So maintain learning. It's fairly probably the most helpful factor you'll do on this existence; trusting God, and staying compliant to Him.

This is a new one on me. As a Catholic, I believe in Jesus Christ as my God and Savior

Not true. All God's people who have accpeted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are going to go to heaven

They are wrong, and that's all there is to it. I'm not even Catholic, but if a person believes in Jesus Christ, they believe in Jesus Christ.

It is just bigotry in all its glory when people say that Catholics aren't Christians.

First, the question you raise is not valid. You can't paint fundamentalists with such a broad stroke. Their concern is however, the relationship of Mary within the Church. Certainly the most important relationship one has in the Christian community is Jesus. All they are concerned with is the role Mary plays in the lives of Catholics. Don't make Mary a God.
