In the store, pan the camera from left to right ... and take a picture. If you have a slow shutter it will not be able to give you a clear picture.

Shutter speeds are expressed as fractions, such as 1/60th of a second all the way to 1/1000th of a second or faster. The manual will tell you the shutter speed range. Your photos are blurry because in an automatic mode the camera selects a shutter speed adequate for static or non moving subjects, such as 1/125th of a second, especially in low light. If your camera has a TV mode, select a shutter speed fast enough to freeze action, such as 1/250th of a second. This will only work outside in good light. Some cameras have a sports or action mode and in this mode the camera will select a fast shutter speed- again you need to have good light for this to work. Your best bet is an SLR camera, but these are pricey- from just under $600 with a lens to many times that amount.

Research the specs of the camera you are buying. Use the Internet, tell the sales staff what you are looking for, research prices. A good camera can cost 150 or 450, depending on sooo many factors. Good luck!

most digital cameras will come with an action setting or a manual setting where you can adjust shutter speed for faster motion. talk to the sales people, read up on the intended purchase online, ask your friends and family about which camera they have and if they are happy with it. and yes, you can read the box/manual lol
