well, it depends on what part of China you travel to
Since I'm Cantonese, I mostly only know southern Chinese food
It's like rice noodles and beef.....hmm
There's Cha Sui or something, which is basically this sweet bbq pork
and there's Dim Sum! Which is when women push around carts with food and they stop by tables and you order different types of food like egg tarts, chow fun, Cha Sui Bao (buns w/ bbq pork)
There's so many types of Chinese food, it's really hard to describe it all
These were only a small part of Cantonese food, which is a small part of the entire Chinese cuisine, so the range is very great.

well, all answers are very good and correct. Must warn oyu though. DO NOT EXPECT THE FOOD HERE TO BE AS ChINESE FOOD IN USA.. The authentic food here is much better and tastier. Personally, I prefer the foods in Sichuan, which are very spicey and hot. However, the southern foods in GFuandong and uanxi are very good. Vegetable actually have a very good taste here. and ther is little use of Soy Sauce here. Most all ingredients are fresh.
You can sample foods from all over iChina in most big Cities.

Depends on where you're eating. Street vendors offer typical local food but may be bad for your stomach as some of them are not very hygienic in preparing the food. Universal fast food chains like McD or Burger King offer standard packages. If you can afford to patronise exclusive restaurants and eateries, you can be assured of quality food. But then of course, you pay through your nose.

How tasty food is is very subjective. One may like spicy food but not another. If you are travelling in China, it is best you stick to well-cooked food to prevent stomach upset which may prevent you from enjoying you tour.

Everything is Chinese takeout. All the food comes in those little white boxes and all the restaurants only have one or two tables in them, along with a moped for delivery. And the menus have pictures that look nothing like the food. Also some of them serve "tex-mex" as well, most famous for quesadilla-sincronazida, or something like that. Often there's a cute girl behind the counter but she's always either married to the owner or more interested in girls than guys...

ermmm...Chinese food? It depends on where you go, I couldn't tell you how the food's going to be like everywhere. If you like Chinese food (real chinese food, not Panda or something), you'll prbably find something.
