Faith is an important part of being anything. A father or mother, a husband or wife, a student, a farmer, a chef, whatever.

Honestly, I don't think either having faith or lacking faith is, alone, the mark of a "good" president. For example, Hitler--while being a dictator, sure, not a president--honestly believed that he was finishing the work of Jesus Christ (as told in his own book, Mein Kampf). Abe Lincoln was an Atheist who brought about the downfall of black slavery. Am I saying that an Atheist president is superior? No. I honestly think Abe would have done very little differently had he been a Christian.

It's the man behind the religion, not the religion itself. Look at the mess Bush has created!

everyone has faith , the question is, what or Who is it in? I myself have faith in God and believe that in the end God's will will be done no matter who the pres.is. remember the pres is just a man and God can and will use who He chooses to fulfill His Plan. and by the way , when was the last time anyone in politics told the truth about anything no matter what they said they were ? politic are politics . if we Christian want to change the way thing are maybe we should stand up for and live what we say we believe like Christian's once did and quit waiting around for the pres. to do everything . Jesus is going to save the world , not the pres. God just ask us to do our part ..... vote your faith ? sure . but remember the pres is just a man or woman no matter what they say.

If you will only vote for a Christian president then you, almost by definition, are a bigot. You are saying that a Jew, for example, could not be president in your opinion, regardless of his/her policies, plans, leadership ability, party affiliation, etc. That is anti-Semitic with a capital A and, given that the US is founded on the notion that all are created equal, regardless of faith, color, language, etc, also very anti-American. The same argument could be said of other religions and then just as equally of atheism.

What the US needs is clear, accountable, moral leadership, regardless of faith or lack thereof. I can assure you that the worst Christian is not as good as the best atheist or vise-versa.

No, our current president is a Christian...it is only important in getting elected, because many Americans will only vote for a Christian, even if their policies, actions, past experiences...are anything but Christian.

And by faith you mean Christian faith I assume? Or do you mean Jewish faith? Perhaps Catholic? Maybe Muslim? Somehow I don't think you meant the others, just Christian, as though Christians have the patent on faith and good judgement.

I have to disagree, the only people I've seen babbling about the Mark of the Beast, or End of Times. My favorite was this elderly lady who cooked for our daycare, and was convinced the new ATM style food stamps card was the Mark of the Beast and the end was near.

Not at all - actually it makes me not want to vote for a person when they use that as a political platform. The person instead should have basic logic, the ability to think on his (or her) feet. To many people die because of their "faith" doesn't match what others think throughout history. I would rather base being president on IQ scores instead.

Absolutely NOT. Faith is defined as belief without evidence, or in spite of evidence to the contrary. We really shouldn't want our presidents to make decisions without evidence to back them up. The lack of evidence for decisions is what led us to get mired in Iraq. Bush had faith in weapons of mass destruction and look what that led to.

I would much rather want leaders to be rational.

All humans hold to world-views that are ultimately based to some extent or the other on Faith (this is true for Atheists as well).

Committed Faith in the Christian God can call us to good/strong morals and ethics, and so can be an important foundation for a good President (e.g., Abraham Lincoln).

Cordially,

No.
Most of the great leaders through time in history are atheists. They just make use of religion to rule his people. It's a much easier way of control over the masses.
