DLP is a way to make a HDTV that is totally digital and simple.

It uses a projector light bulb, a color wheel and a very special chip called the "Digital Light Projector" chip.

This chip has 2+ million tiny mirrors on the top. The TV signal moves each mirror slightly in time to the colors in the color wheel.

It sounds stupid. It sounds like it would not work. But go see one in the stores. You will be shocked at how good it looks.

Some people dont like DLP because you need to replace the projector bulb about every 6,000 hours (or 3 years). I just did this and it brought the TV back to super-bright mode.

DLP tv's are rear projection televisions. The difference from LCD and Plasma is that it is not a flat panel. The tv is roughly 2 to 3 feet wide. The difference in Picture quality is not that noticible, and DLP is much cheaper than LCD and Plasma.
