What you want doesn't exist.
All dogs shed, some alot less than others, but they all shed.

Miniature Schnauzer. You have to have them groomed every 4-6 weeks, but if raised around kids, they are wonderful. Downside, they do end up with an aray of problems, due to them being bred into the breed they are. Their breed dates way back to Medieval Germany. They were bred so they could go into a small space or attic to chase the mice away.
Mini Schnauzers are a very gentile dog. Be mindful, however, that if they are not in a properly fenced in area, to have them on a leash. They are known for being clumsy and will get lost in finding a bug and trail off otherwise. You can search more up on this breed over the world wide web. I would recommned it.

Miniature Schnauzer (this breed was created by mixing poodle in, and it has a softer coat that is virtually shedless.) Most anything mixed with poodle or a purebred poodle.
Maltese, Bedlington Terrier, Italian Greyhound. These are some breeds that shed very little.

Maybe a Toy Poodle or Bichon Frise. They are both small, but with high maintenance coats - their coats need trimming/clipping, but they don't shed. Good luck finding the perfect canine for you.

Well even hairless dogs have some hair and will shed a little! But if you are looking for low maintenance, a Boston Terrier, Beagle, Mini Pin, Pug, and some Jack Russel's have short hair and are easier to take care of. But no shedding? Try a stuffed dog....

there is NO such thing as "reputable breeder" who breeds mixes. Anyone who breeds mutts or designer mixes is only in it for profit and not to better a breed (because they are not actual breeds to begin with!)
Poodles, Bichons, Schnauzer, yorkies, maltese, are a few breeds that shed minimally.
Also check out powderpuff Chinese Cresteds... they are not hairless, they have a full coat of hair. They shed minimally also.

I have a Bichonpoo. A mix of a Bichon Frise and Toy Poodle. Putting aside all the criticism about designer dogs if you can find a reputable breeder like I did you can really get yourself a wonderful dog. Esperanza is 16 months old, she doesn't shed, is hypoallergenic and weighs 11 1/2 pounds the perfect size for loving and cuddling. And boy does she love to love and cuddle. She is the sweetest most gentle dog I have ever known. I would recommend a Bichonpoo to anyone looking for a small dog. They are the best.

If it has hair or fur, it WILL shed. Your best bet is a toy poodle, since they shed very little. I work with a groomer. Trust me, if it has fur or hair, the dog will shed. The amount of shedding depends on the breed.

First, American Eskimos SHED LIKE CRAZY! All spitz do. maltese and Yorkies are probably your best bet. Their shedding is minimal (they have "hair" instead of fur) and they are very low dander. My vote would be Maltese :)
ADDED: Just to clarify, Poodle do not shed AT ALL. Pugs, Bostons, and everything that person listed shed ALOT. I NEVER recommend bichon-poos or any other PUPPYMILL mutant. you would be condoning puppymills by purchasing one, breeder or petstore. Also, the only breeds that are considered fully "hypoallergenic" are Havanese and Bichon Frise, which BOTH do not shed AT ALL.
