I am 23 yrs old. I started college at the normal 18 yrs old and I had 2 take out a loan and use my mothers tax return 2 determine how much financial aid I would get. My mother tried 2 scam (as usual) and didnt put my father down as a parent living with us. She wasnt working for a long time so she didnt have any tax returns after a while making me have 2 take out a greater loan.

I couldnt afford it anymore and she wouldnt let me use my dad and I was very nervous about debt but because of this I ended up owing my school thousands of dollars anyway. My sister got an AA from a community college so it was cheaper for her. I want 2 go back 2 film school because I am a writer now and I want 2 be a film director. I need an education for this.

My mother thinks that I ruined my chances the 1st time (my 1st college wasnt 4 film) and I was stupid 4 dropping out cuz I couldnt afford it. She says I should just 4get about it and do a me medical assistant training since I'm 2 old 4 anything else

Your mother is wrong, wrong, wrong, and she is telling you not to go to college because she is selfish and doesn't want you to fulfill your dreams. Some people are so unhappy they want everyone else to be unhappy too.

I went to college when I was 17 and got my first degree, and I went back for my second degree when I was almost 40. College is wonderful, and you're never too old. I know this for a fact.

Also, this is America, and college is expensive. Very, very few people go through school without having to take out loans to pay for it. Don't let this stop you. This is a part of American life, and it's not going to change. Having to take out loans didn't stop millions and millions of people from graduating from college, so why should it stop you?

If you don't pursue your dreams, you will always regret it. Go for it, girl, and don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.

You are only 23 you can do what ever you want. I have had people in my classes that where in their 40's and 50's. If this is something you want...then go for it. Don't let anyone get in your way. Do you have a certain school in mind? If you do I would make an appointment to talk with one of their advisor's and tell them your situation. I am sure they will work with you some how. You are definitely not too old.

You are NEVER too old to go back to school. Even if you were 100 years old there is nothing wrong with expanding your education.

If you can save the money or get a loan then go for it! The debt is worth it in the end if you can get a job doing something that you love to do.

Do what you love and have a passion for.... you won't regret it. :)

Your mother is an idiot. Sorry, but I dropped out of college after one year. I intended to take only a year off but I ended up marrying my boyfriend and was out of school for four years. The marriage broke up and I went back. I earned my bachelor's degree and got a good job afterwards. I was the same age that you are now when I went back. Not only that, but I had classmates who were in their thirties and forties. It's never too late.

Go after your dream. You are old enough to make up your own mind and made your own decisions.

If you don't want to have regrets for the rest of your life, go after your dream NOW, while you are young.

There is no such thing these days as being "to old" to anything. The other day a 90 year old got a university degree.
Walt Disney was 44 when he started his dream.

It is never to late, and you are the perfect age.

GO AFTER YOUR DREAM.

Well, I'm a bit over twice your age and I went back to college full-time. I will graduate next year with a Bachelors Degree.

I wish I would have done it when I was your age, but, I didn't.

If you want to be a film director, and you need a college education to become one, go for it.

Hi friend,
You know what's one common denominator among successful people? They never believe what other people says. Instead they believe in themselves. My advise is to simply ignore your mom's negative comments and find a way to get what you've always wanted. Nobody is too old for anything. The greatest success in life are never afraid to seek new venture. Saying something like "too old for something" is putting a certain limit on yourself. Have a heart to heart talk with your mom. Every possible way is worth trying if you want to chase your dream.

You are never too old to follow your dreams.

Do what's right for you and don't listen to your mother who was the one to cause the problems in the first place.

Yeah, you aren't going to be a film director - sorry. Those careers just don't happen for poor people.
