I have forgotten her last name, but Amber was a little girl from Mena Arkansas who went missing and her mother went before congress to start a program to help find missing children quicker.
So when the police issue an "Amber" alert they are taking steps to find a missing child based on ideas submitted by Amber's mother that were signed into policy by several police organizations.
I'm sorry I don't remember the little girl's name. She went missing from Mena at age seven I believe.

Good luck

OKAY, in '96, this girl named Amber went missing & was found dead. She was 11, so her mom started something when Amber was missing and called it Amber's Alert. Later, when Amber's body was found, the FBI started the amber alert.

There was an "Amber". I believe that had we had an Amber alert type system in place, she would have been found in all likelihood. Legislation was passed in her honor branding the country wide alert that we know as an "Amber Alert"
