Because it teaches you to breath with your diaphragm, the most efficient way to breath. When your a baby you breath this way, but as you grow older you start to breath out of your chest

Deep breathing like this is natural, if you look at a baby this is how they breathe, as you grow older most people start to breathe allot more shallow because of different factors in their life so no wonder it feels un-natural, if you keep practiceing you will soon see how un-natural it was to breathe the other way and how much more air and also how much more relaxed you can be when you breathe deeply

Maby the over exaduration mostion of the stomach is used at the start just to get you moveing it, after a while you will breathe through it but no9t as much as you are when you force it ofcource, it's like training

It depends on what you are learning.

If you are being taught Iron Shirt Qigong, that is one of the exercises you practice... just one of them, though.

Learning this has to be done under someone who has the complete teaching or else it can be dangerous. Not that doing that exercises alone is going to harm you.

There are many things involved in Iron Shirt that if done or taught half-heartedly, can result in internal damage.

Ask the person teaching you where he/she learned it, what it is, what art it is from and how long have they been doing it.

Iron Shirt or Golden Bell, as it is also called, is a great skill, again, if taught by someone who really knows it.

because to breathe with your stomache gives you better oxygen intake for lack of a better way to say it. at first it feels wrong but after a while it becomes natural. also a really great way to destress.

ahhh just breathe natural and make sure you keep breathing and don't hold your breath and you will be ok.
