I thanked myself twice today. It felt good, and then I washed my hands.

You seem to be connecting the Day of Thanksgiving with some sort of religious over tones. Giving thanks on the Day of Thanksgiving is a social custom and not one that is recognized by any religion. Throughout history mankind has celebrated the bountiful harvest with thanksgiving ceremonies. These were held by the ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Hebrews, the Chinese and the Egyptians.
You seem to have just attacked atheists in the most unchristian like fashion and you are ignorant about your topic. You owe the atheists an apology for your evil tongue.

I don't believe I or anyone else is the the lord of my life.
I thanked my mother for birth, and a home and for raising me.
I thanked my grandmother for my mother.
I thanked my family for being there.
I thanked my friends for being amazing.
I don't see why some lord has to take all the credit.

Do what! Atheist = no god - no one to thank. Except the farmer - the fisherman - and all the others who really exist and produce the food.
To put it down to a myth is to insult their work.

I don't think I'm a god, anymore than I believe in one.
That being said, Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday either.
I am grateful, that I am working and am able to afford to purchase a turkey....

Your argument is flawed, you assume Atheist have no one to thank simply because we do not believe in a deity...
Yes I gave thanks today to the people in my life who deserve thanks not a fictional deity...
Did you thank anyone besides your fictional deity?
