her baby up for adoption?

2007-11-22 13:42:40 · 24 answers · asked by Lily-Ann 2 in Pregnancy & Parenting Adoption

I'm just curious...
I don't mean that mothers do it for money... I know it's hard... but the thought just crossed my mind.

My question is not a question of opinion! Go back and read it and you'll see that I'm not looking for an opinion.
If I were to look for an opinion, I'd be so happy to hear all sides of it - and I'd appreciate the straight forward answers even if they were harsh.
You just judged me into thinking that I'm not responsible person who got pregnant and wants to sell my child.
I was just asking, curious - I'm not pregnant - and I'm not a bad girl who would ever consider giving my child up, let alone making money from that!
Keep your honest straight forward answers - but please stop judging people and drawing conclusions.

No. That is illegal in the USA, Canada, European countries, most everywhere. In the USA, a woman can get her medical expenses paid for while she is pregnant. Also counseling before and after the birth should be paid for--though unfortunately the woman isn't always told about this. And sometimes housing and food can be covered while she is pregnant if she needs that.

But paying money for the baby is not legal -- or ethical. That might end up with desperate women getting pregnant and having babies just for the money -- horrible for them and even worse for the children! How would you like to know that your mother sold you? And how would you live with yourself if you sold your child?

This is one of the big problems with Guatemalan adoption. Women are given money to relinquish their babies--not a lot of money by US standards, but for a Guatemalan mother, desperate to feed her other children, it can be enough to convince a woman who is a loving mother to give up her baby -- that is just horrible!!! And to make matters worse, the people who find the pregnant women are given money, so there is a strong incentive to convince women to give up their children (There is still some incentive in the USA, because adoption agencies and lawyers make money, but the incentive isn't as strong as if you got a "finder's fee" like in Guatemala.) There have even been cases where women and girls have been held captive in baby making "factories"--how sick is that!

So no, a teenage girl is already under a lot of pressure to give up her child (or abort). Giving her money as well might lead her to a "choice" that she would regret for the rest of her life--and that her child would regret.

No. You do not get paid for the baby. However, in certain situations the adopting parents may pay the birth mother's medical bills which are directly related to the pregnancy and birth. Also, in very rare occasions the adopting parents may help the birth mother with groceries or rent, but only in very, very rare situations. Focus on using a reputable adoption agency and choosing the best parents you can. How much they can pay YOU is NOT important. Whether they have the beliefs and values you want your child to grow up with is all that should matter to you. Choose carefully and remember, The most important thing in all of this is finding a good home for your baby where it will be surrounded with love. Good luck.

I obtained pregnant with my first child while i simply became sixteen. Everyone round me attempted to inform me that i wasn't historical sufficient or that the child might simply reduce to rubble my plans. BULL!! That child is now five years historical and that i might no longer leave out no longer a million moment of her existence. Im so completely satisfied i stored her. Don't fear while men and women say dull matters, with you pregnancy your 'mommy instincts' will kick in and you'll study to get extra of a again bone and get up to your child and your self, i do know i did. I ended up residing with and marrying the daddy of my child, we each had jobs and that i obtained support and plenty of information from WIC, and we did get meals cash for a whilst while matters have been hard, to make certain i had the vitamins i wished for the child. Being a mother is not anything to be involved approximately even though. You will just do exceptional. There is plenty of well data on those internet websites. I desire you could have a unique being pregnant, it appears like your an overly sensible man or woman.

Not directly. She can get her expenses paid (i.e. food, housing, and medical care) while she is pregnant. Some couples in private adoption will even pay for her to relocate during the pregnancy so she isn't embarrassed while she is with child. But she never gets handed cash for her disposal. That would be inappropriate like she was getting paid to have a baby. Can you imagine how many women would become "baby machines" if they got paid for it? Whew...

No she doesnt get money. There are some places she go like during the pregnancy and they'll cover her medical expenses and provide her w/a place to stay. When people pay for the adoptions they're paying legal fees.

No, she will not receive money for putting her baby up for adoption. In fact, most of the time, her prenatal care and birth costs are not covered.

Please contact social services and find out what is available to you. Adoption isn't always the only choice and so many women regret this permanent solution to a temporary problem.

First there is ANOTHER choice, it's called abortion.

Yes adopters pay thousands to an legal kidnapping agency, and some of the agencies pay the real mother her medical and housing costs for a short period of time.

And then, of course, there are private procurements where anything and everything is up for grabs depending on how desperate the adopters are.

Of course, this is all a mirakle dontcha know.

No, at least not legally. In some situations the adoptive parents are allowed to pay for living and medical expenses for the expectant mother, but just giving her money in return for relinquishing her baby would be "selling" the baby, and is illegal.

no, the mom doesn't get any money. adoption is a billion dollar industry, it goes to attorneys and adoption agencies. there won't be any help, once you give your child away. you won't have the money to buy clothes, your body will have changed drastically. no counseling to get you through the shock of what you've just went through. no one to give you a place to stay, you need to make arrangements to have someplace to go. no leave of absence for your pregnancy, just have to go out and find a job while you are a mental and physical wreck, hope you don't have a c-section.
