why does he egg me on?

he doesnt like me like that, yet he thinks i do , so why does he mess around with my feelings? he gives me hope that maybe we could be together, we work at a restaurant and we have hung out once at a club, he wanted to grind on me and give me a lap dance, he was drunk and followed me everywhere- he's cocky and he's 25 and iam 20, he was in the marines, he's used to getting his way -he asked me before if i liked him and i have said no but he thinks otherwise, he compliments me a lot and tells me how pretty iam.even when iam not wearing make-up..he isnt the only one, everyone at work tells me iam a pretty girl..but this guy knows i like him, how can mess with my feelings, when he sees me upset he runs to my rescue to make sure iam ok, maybe because he thinks he caused my upsetness, he befriended me on facebook and got upset when i didnt befriend him for good on it, for the time i did he wrote on my wall alot ..he looks at me alot and teases me in good ways..he can be a jerk sometimes.

he constantly asked my friends at work if i hated him and asked me if i hated him, he asked if i had fun when i went somewhere, ..i dont initiate the conversation, he always starts talking to me first and gives up after a while for silence.he also does things to get me jealous..he asks his good girlfriends "when are we f***king" and looks at me..he broke he's engagement off 7 months ago, but hes dated around since..i am kind of meaner more now to this guy b/c he eggs me on, at least that's what i think, if he thinks i like why cant he talk to me about it instead of just being annoying?

he talks to me and after a while of me not really saying anything he stops, that's what i ment to write, but he always keeps on trying

From what you said it's obvious that he likes you. Maybe he's afraid that he doesn't want to ruin a relationship (friend or otherwise).

You should ask a few questions to get some things straight.

You should also know that he at least cares about you, wants to know how you think of him and if he's being a jerk he probably doesn't know any other way to get some attention.
