Say you're a Atheist. Or a Muslim. Christian. Or whatever religion.
You've got kids that you've raised in your own religion. One day, they come home to tell you the've looked into another religion, and decided to follow it.

Would you allow them to follow their choice religion or would you try to stop them from their beliefs?

This question isn't out of personal experience by the way. I'm just curious.

I am raising my children to believe in Jesus Christ. If you don't teach your kids about the lord they will not know him. My children will be raised in church and read the bible until they reach the age of accountability. After that they are accountable for their own sins no matter what I do for them. I will always love them and cherish them, but I cannot force them to believe in christianity.

I don't plan on raising any of my kids into my religion. I recognize that my path is not one for everybody. They can research and come to their own conclusions. Of course I would like to see them find a path that doesn't try to repress who they are, but ultimately the choice will be up to them. I can already tell, at the age of 4, that my daughter is going to be a very spiritual person.

I'm an Atheist with 2 kids, and when they are old enough to understand, I will explain as much as I know about all religions. I will also explain my beliefs, and let them make whatever decision they feel comfortable with. You can shape a child's beliefs, but you can't stop them (they'll only rebel or hide them from you).

I would tell them to tell me why they decided to follow the other religion, and if it is a good reason, i would let them follow it

I would like to say I don't mind, but I have studied way to much for my kid to one day come home and say that they want to be a JW or born again. I would just have to deal with it, it would bother the hell out of me, but that would be better then what kids can get into, like trouble!

Im pagan...but...
I have taken my kids to many different churches and even sent them to a Catholic school for a year.
I support them in any religion they decide to follow.

I'd allow them to follow their religion.

I would ask if they had checked out all the different religions. If not, I would ask that they do so. Once that was accomplished I would accept their choice.

Just like anyone I speak with, as long as they can justify their belief, they are entitled to it. I doubt this can be done with most religions.
