Yet another taser-happy cop abusing some unfortunate person:

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2007/11/22/aqui.youtube.taser.cnn

It seems there's another one in the news almost every day. And thats just the incidents that end up on the net.

How can we protect ourselves from these violent abusive cops?

We can form citizen patrol groups that specialize in policing the police. They need to monitored 24/7 even when they are off duty which is when some of their most heinous acts occur. There are more of us than there are of them so we should have no problem. You need to have a video camera at all times so we can catch them in more of these acts and not just the one that end up on the internet. A 24 hour network that shows video of cops in every precinct is the place to start. And the laws need to be re-evaluated so that when a cop commits a crime, they must get a mandatory sentence twice the penalty than that of a citizen. They are getting more violent, and are being armed with unnecessary weapons like the Taser which they claim saves lives. Tell that to the family of the Polish man in Vancouver that was murdered by cops. The problem we have now is that so many of these animals are coming back from Iraq and Afganistan having slaughtered innocent women and children with the taste for blood stronger than ever. And what better way to satisfy that taste than to join the police force. What it will eventually come down to is that we citizens will have to arm ourselves with Tasers and Glocks just to protect ourselves from these vicious beasts. Cops may not realize it, but they are the ones opening the door to anarchy in this country with their war like tactics against the American people.

Sooo...You know what was happening the whole time before the tasing? They're only showing you the end, and a couple seconds at the beginning. Wheres the middle?

Let me ask why the driver was walking back to the car? I DO NOT allow anyone to get back into their car after I've taken them out, until I'm ready for them to get back in.

Did you say "But he's just some young white guy with his wife or girlfriend, what threat is he?" Nobody knows what kind of threat he is until they see it. Officers do not allow anyone to become a threat. Is it aggressive? Yes, but we need to be vigilant, and treat everyone the same to remain safe.

Would I have tased him? I don't know, but I know I would not have let him walk that far back to his car either.

In my city, If a driver doesn't sign a citation, I'll call over another officer to explain its just a promise to appear in court. If the driver still won't sign, a sergeant will come to the car stop. If the driver still won't sign, they are arrested and booked into jail. That would include tasing/baton strikes/OC/take downs or whatever else is needed to effect an arrest. Maybe our guy here was at this point in the video.

Great Matt found the link to the whole thing. Thanks man! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMaMYL_shxc

As I stated. Refulsal to sign a cite for the UTHP seems to be an automatic arrest. They do not have time to have the 3 officers they have in that area come to the scene. Its just an arrest. He refused to submit to a lawful arrest. Out in the middle of nowhere officers can't take the risk of going hands on. Who knows when you may start fighting with some MMA champ?

The taser was more than justified here. Its text book, and I would have every officer I know do the same thing.

Look. SOME cops are bad. Most are not. The videos you see may not be complete. They might miss something of importance that played a role in the incident. For example, The whole Rodney King thing was different than what we all saw on TV. I do think that the cops that Beat Mr. King were wrong, there was more to that story. He beat the hell our of 4 or 5 cops before they beat the hell out of him. He threw one of them over a car. He put one's head into a window. There was more to the story. The media played what would get the biggest impact. The media doesn't care about the truth. They want ratings. Consider that while watching.

Notice how the events prior to the tasing were conveniently cut out. However, there are a couple of seconds of footage of the guy walking back to his car with the cop telling him to come back. For all the cop knew, he could have been going back to his car to get a gun. Right after 9/11, the media made the police look like heroes. But in the past year or so, it has become fashionable to portray them as monsters to a public who eats up whatever garbage the news networks feed them.

Heres a novel idea, comply with the officers request. Dont get beligerent with the officer, dont play roadside lawyer, and when told you are under arrest, follow the commands the officer is giving you. Signing a ticket does not admit guilt, it only acknowledges reciept of the ticket. lastly, if an officer does point a taser at you, stop whatever it is you are doing immediately, and follow the commands the officer is giving you.

Report any inappropriate conduct you personally witness to your local police station, or their department of Internal Affairs if you don't trust them.

On a more broad note if you are concerned about the use of tasers, why don't you write your Congressperson or your Senators about it? There are a lot of people who are becoming concerned about this, believe me. You could even try to organize a letter writing campaign to bring up this issue. There's a link to a great tutorial for how to contact your members of Congress in my sources area.

I think the video clearly shows how to protect yourself.

Here's the whole story:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMaMYL_shxc

Look how beligerant he is at the beginning. Look at him walking away. Listen to the police officer telling him to stop and not head back to the vehicle.

Sounds like another instance of a whiney boy getting tased and not taking responsibility for himself.

He didn't tased for getting a ticket or refusing to sign a ticket. He was getting tased for resisting arrest.

"First of all, you're going to tell me why." --Guy
"For speeding." --Police Officer

The Police Officer, if you watch the video, ALREADY told him why. And if you can't look at the ticket and figure out why you're getting a ticket, that's pathetic.

He refused to sign the ticket. So the officer brought him out of the car.

"Turn around and put your hands behind your back. That was said first. The guy reached into his side...the pocket area. So the officer drew his taser, which is the right thing to do.

"What's wrong with you?" says the guy and gets beligerant. He starts to walk away.

"Turn around. Turn around." --Officer states AS THE GUY IS WALKING AWAY.
"What the heck's wrong with you?" the guy says in response.

I don't get why someone like you cannot see this at all. It's INCREDIBLY obvious that the guy should have been tased for everyone's safety.

Why women would have 2 kids with someone like this is beyond me.

stop being law breaking scumbags...and if you happen to do something minor like speed or run a signal....sign your damn ticket and argue it in court like our legal system was designed. im sure the cop was just being violent and abusive and he wasnt trying to protect the rest of us by citing someone for driving like a moron. Because im sure the cop hasnt had to work thousands of accidents where someone being stupid behind the wheel has killed innocent people.

Don't walk away from a cop while they are ticketing you.

We could abolish all civic authority, and then we would only have to protect ourselves from the hoodlums & gangsters that the cops atttempt to protect us from, but we couldn't as the same folks who would do just that would take all our guns too.

There are worse thing in life than getting tasered.

Be very carful of what you do. The only way to avaoid the cops is to not do anything to get them called.
