Was considering how much our thoughts and what we entertain there can have a real impact upon us.
Ever considered that Eve was corrupted in her mind even before she bit into the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
These thoughts.. sometimes coming in the form of doubt, questions,lies, attacks, deceit are like the flaming darts as seen in Eph 6:16
"Besides all these, having taken up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming darts of the evil one."
My question concerns vs 17 and 18
And RECEIVE the Helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which Spirit is the word of God
By means of all prayer and petition, praying at every timein spirit and watching unto this in all preseverance and petition concerning all the saints.
How guarded is our mind from the evil one? Are we inflitrated and sent spiraling? How crucial is the receiving of this helmet to us daily to guard our hearts and thoughts?

Above all may mean that the shield is to be used against everything. It may also mean that the shield is to cover the whole armor. A Roman solder's shield typically measured two and one-half feet by four feet. The Christian's shield is offers protection against all the fiery darts f the wicked one. Flaming arrows could not penetrate the fireproof shield of the ancient Roman solider, nor can the assaults of Satan penetrate to the believer who places his or her faith in God.
The helmet of salvation: The intricately designed Roman helmet protected the soldier's head and also made him look taller and more impressive.The Word of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon in the believer's armor. This weapon is not necessarily the Bible as whole, but the specific word that needs to be spoken in a specific situation.
Without prayer, all armor in the world would be of no use. Praying always: Perseverance and patience in prayer are essential.
With the Word of God we are armed and dangerous. ; )

PROTECT YOUR MIND !!!
In this world of false doctrines and evil influences it is imperative for all to guard our minds !
In putting the whole Armour of God, there is a helmet of salvation, which tends to make us think this is the guard, but looking further, we find in Ephesians 6: 16 that a shield of faith is what will quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Faith comes by hearing ( what the Spirit is saying to the church ) and that hearing ( what the Spirit is saying to the church ), By the Word of God ( Jesus ).
So just what is meant by " fiery darts of the wicked " ? : Darts, is a word used to describe a heavy object, stone, ect... that is fixed to a rope to " sound " , or see how deep the water is. On a boat, one would be constantly pitching this into the water to measure depth. Spiritually, the evil thoughts presented to our minds by demons or those deceived, are those darts. Fiery is a key here, because of the effect left when a hot object touches us, SEARING our mind.
Satan is continually measuring the depth of the "water of the Word" in our minds, trying to throw a "fiery dart " to damage or pervert. If the water is deep enough, the dart will never reach intended target, and if it happens to, the water will cool down or extinguish the fire, making it less effective.
The key to guarding our mind is to have plenty of the "water of the Word" in our minds.
What is the " water of the Word " ? : It is not good enough to just have the Word in our minds. We must have something that makes us immovable. A nail in a sure place. A ROCK to build on. The enlightened Word of God ( revelation of Gods mind concerning the subject ).
After God has given a revealing in His Word, we know that we know , that we know !!! Un-shakeable ! A house fitted together on a solid foundation, built with unmovable stones , Jesus being the chief cornerstone.

The "evil one" has no power other than that which we grant him in out lives. Jesus took it away from him at the cross.
