Your military experience is one of the most rewarding. Tremendous advantages with military experience will "catapult" you above others. You are a disiplined, well rounded individual necessary in protecting and servicing civilians of all walks of life.

Write to the Austin Police to inquire. I think you will find them very attentive from your work experience. You will attend their "police academy" but may not need to complete all weeks due to your military record. My neighbor just completed his Marine contract and was only required to attend 5 out of the 9 weeks of police academy training. If I am correct I believe his time as a police officer also counts as years added to his military time for government retirement.

As a Game Warden you need to contact the U.S. Department of Forestry. I know two in the Georgia area and they each have 4 year college degrees. Beyond that I do not know the qualifications.

Remember, in the civilian world you have to ask directly in a job search. There is no "chain-of command" or "chit" when job searching. In your inquiries ask what the strarting pay is, inquire what the current time frame is for pay increases, what are the promotion schedules, etc. It may also help to have letters of recommendation from your current Division Officer, Administrative Officer, or what I would do for anyone, acquire one from the Commanding Officer.

Good luck and congrats on your successful military time.

There is a big sign in Oakland CA for Police. Starting Pay is $70,000.00. SF is also recruiting, they pay even more.

Game Wardens are the first to go in a budget problem.

Good luck

My suggestion is a little R & R and sort it out. You did not mention if you were in a position to call these places now either. You might want to find out if they still want some College in say Admin of Justice.

Border Guard would be a good one.
Theres always civilian security in other places than Iraq that pay extremely well.

Armed security guards for Brinks, or Vegas/Atlantic City casinos.

I have a buddy who did 22 in the army, joined civilian contractors and is making 250,000 a year for 2 years.

Really depends on how much action you looking for.

Post Gate Security or even on post security.
With your experience you should be a supervisor.
Regular guards are starting at $15/hour .. which is about 32000.
Supervisor would make more.

Don't the military help you find a job when you get out?
I know a friend of mine was in communications, retired early, moved to Texas and started working a communications company bringing home 6 figures a year.

Have you considered using your GI bill to go back to school?
