OK I have a several part question. I am going to get an X-Box or a PS3 "keep in mind I already have lots of ps1 and ps2 games". But as you know X-Box uses hd-dvd and PS3 uses Blue Ray. So who do you think is going to win that war ? And now on the the nitty gritty. X-Box vs PS3 what one should I pick and why? Can you save the whole game on the hard drive on either system, so even if my kids use the disc as a Frisbee it will be permanently save on the system? I thank everyone in the help and info it's a big investment and not sure which way to go..

The PS3 uses Blu-Ray DVD's for it's games and it can play regular Blu-Ray DVD's as well out of the box.

The Xbox 360 on the other hand cannot play HD-DVD's out of the box, a separate HD-DVD drive has to be bought that costs around $180 and it can only play HD-DVD's only. It would be different though if the Xbox 360 had a built in HD-DVD drive and used HD-DVD's for all of the Xbox 360 games, but it still uses regular DVD's for it's games and a regular Xbox 360 game DVD can only hold up to 9GB on a single layer disc. A PS3 Blu-Ray game disc can hold up to 25GB on a single layer disc and Blu-Ray is a HD format.

I have heard from different sources that Blu-Ray DVD's currently outsell HD-DVD's 2 to 1 and in some places even more than that. I think that Blu-Ray will win the format war for now.

Just think of it this way, there are millions of PS3 owners out there and when ever they want to play Blu-Ray DVD's all they have to do is put in the disc. But for Xbox 360 owners, they have to spend almost $200 for the HD-DVD attachment first and then buy HD-DVD games. So basically there will be more PS3 owners buying Blu-Ray DVD's because the PS3 is Blu-Ray, but there will be hardly any Xbox 360 owners buying HD-DVD's because they have to spend $200 dollars for the attachment first.

Also, you cannot save an entire PS3 game on the PS3's hard drive because the game discs cannot be copied to the hard drive. Besides, PS3 games are so huge in size that if you were to save the whole game on the system, you could only save about 4 or 5 games on a 80GB PS3 in all.

The PS3 has more relaible hardware, it is more technologically advanced and has more features built in such as Bluetooth, WiFi, a Web browser, Blu-Ray, and digital camera flash card slots. The Xbox 360 doesn't have anything of what I just listed above. If you want WiFi for the Xbox 360, you have to buy a separate attachment for it that costs around $100.

The Xbox 360's have this overheating hardware problem called the Red Ring of Death, and the Xbox 360 has a 33% failure rate. The PS3 has a 0.2% failure rate. When you look at all of what your getting and the advanced technology that the PS3 has, it is the better buy.

Well 1st of all the number of sales on HD-DVD's & Blueray Discs are minor league compared to Standard DVD's so theres no saying if they will even last on the market since not everybody owns a HDTV.As far as the Xbox 360 vs PS3 question well I own a PS3 and my bro has a 360 and he's sent his Xbox to microsoft twice for repairs not very dependable and if your just attracted to Halo 3 look away because the newz is that Halo 3 puts alot of stress on the 360 system and people are starting to sue because of there system breaking down so the 360 isnt the most reliable & durable. The PS3 you have games like Ninja Gaiden,Granturismo 5 & God Of War 3 in the near future and it never overheats,is really quiet and has tons of features.I could go on & on but I think you get the point.PS3 all the way.

i would go with the ps3 because blue ray is going to be the big thing(like the invention of the dvd) i think that the ps3 can also play regular dvd.I'm not so sure about saving games on the system but what i do know is that the games currently avaiable for the xbox360 and ps3 may have the same graphis but the twist is that in those games, the producers havent used the full power of the ps3(they use about 40%) therefore future games would be superiour to the xbox360's. The ps3 would be better in the longrun.

First and foremost, the PS3 has three versions available: 40gb (which isn't BC and lacks the Memory Stick/SD/CompactFlash)

Then we have the 60gb and 80 gb versions of the ps3 ! The 60 and 80 gb is BC but the 80gb plays a limited number of ps2 titles. Price: 40gb $399.99 60gb $499.99 80gb $599.99 ! Word is Sony is going to discontinue the 60 and 80 gb ps3 and stick with the 40gb version ! Yes it is possible to store whole games on the hard drive but you may want to upgrade the hard drive to say 250gb !

As for blu-ray vs hg ! The war is still waging but I believe the blu-ray format has a slight edge at this point !

XBOX360 vs PS3 is anybody's guess ! It depends on what games you like and which system has those games as an exclusive and right now that seems to be the XBOX360 !

Either way, you can't lose with either system since both are excellent in their own right !
