I actually work at Walgreens as a sales clerk but want to join the pharmacy dept. because in that way I will be able to shadow a pharmacist and get some experience for how it feels to work in the pharmacy dept.

But I am not a pharm tech or have any certification. I am actually a pre- pharmacy student who wants to go to pharmacy school. Is there any such thing as working only as a cashier in the pharm dept?

you can not work back there unless you are a tech -

My daughter works there and they will provide you books if you are interested on taking the exam - speak to your store manager for more information

Some states do allow non-techs to ring up prescriptions. You'll find very few pharmacies actually have what are called Pharmacy Clerks. They are not useful to the pharmacy. The average starting salary for techs is below $10 per hour. If you are a prepharmacy student, work as tech. Find out your state's requirements are fulfill them.

well i work at walgreens and when i was a cashier they wanted to put me into the pharmacy. so what i had to do was go to a store where they trained me for a week. so you wouldnt just be a cashier you would have to fill perscriptions and everything. but they will start you off slow before they throw all this information at you.

You can be a pharmacy tech, the only thing you cannot do is narcotics and stuff. If you work there already why don't you ask THEM

pharmacy people get paid a lot like $30 an hour so they have good education, some are hired while still in school, but thats because they know a lot about medicines and prescriptions.
