Not exactly, no.
The base is federal property and subject to federal law.
Outside the gate, in town, there are prostitutes! And there are hussies and divorced women who hang around the bars in town and on base hoping for a little fun. There is no firm line between prostitutes and distress cases.

No it is not true.
There is no prostitution ON military bases. That is, there is no legal prostitution, and unlike many civilian cities; the MP's on a military base actually enforce the law.
Now there are obviously prostitutes in the cities around most military bases. Though even then the police do a fairly good job of keeping in pretty low keyed in most cases.

I never saw a hooker on base during my time in the military.(Navy) Right outside the gates is a different story though.
Great Lakes Illinois had the Ron Ric Hotel.
San Diego had a sleazy hooker dump motel(can't remember the name) and a porn shop near the dry side gates. Not to mention TJ, the home of all kinds of things.
Everett Washington was the exception, it was beside some factory. Though there were plenty of porn shops and strip clubs in town, more than what would seem normal in a town that size,
Sasebo, Japan had the bar right up the street that guaranteed oral sex with entry, along with a bunch of "massage" parlors.
This isn't even going near our trips to foreign ports, which were full of prostitution and all other kinds of sex industries. So yeah, sex industries near military bases isn't necessarily an uncommon thing.

generally there are a lot of strip clubs, and sometimes there can be some prostitution from there. You can always find anything your looking for so I'm sure that there is a higher percentage of prostitution near military facilities, but I would have to say that it is not as popular as say, Vegas!

Prostitution is illegal both in and out of the military. Whenever, where ever it is discovered the participants are arrested and prosecuted by the military and the civilian police.
Anywhere there are young men and money......you will find prostitutes..... but they are never authorized or condoned by the military.

And with all the diseases out there.....some that are incureable.....abstance is the best program ( condoms are only 98% effective.....there is no such thing as "safe sex")

drive from FT Knox to Louisville Ky on 31W northbound. there are at least 4 strip clubs. I wouldnt say there are a lot of prostitutes , just trailer trash and other assorted bimbos that wants to have a secure life. they will do anything to have a nice life and they give military spouses a hard time.
