Just right click the file and select EXTRACT from the menu. The file(s) will be expanded into a new folder of the same name.

Open the new folder and the files you seek should be inside.

Don't let others confuse you, you don't need to install extra software. Windows ME, XP & Vista can do the job without helper programs.

Where do you come up with the notion that a 'text file with 15 GB of music' would be only 800K? In any event that can't be done. MP3 files are already compressed. Even putting them in a zip file would gain you very little. It won't work with videos either.

You can't change the ebooks into text files. Zip files can only be unzipped, so just select all the files in each zip file and choose 'extract' or 'unzip' to unzip them to a folder. Then, you can open the files without having to go through the zip document repeatedly.

Here is a good link where you can download winrar for here: http://bit.ly/1BooiXa

You can use winrar to decompress zip files and a bunch of other formats. Other good programs are 7zip and winzip but in my opinion winrar is the best one. Fuctionalities are pretty similar for all programs: basically you can decompress a file simply by right-clicking it and by choosing the destination folder.

Winrar is available for free under a trial licence. The good thing is the trial period never ends so you can use it for free with no limitations.

Winrar opens all formats like .zip, .rar, .7z, .iso, .tar, .jar etc. That's why I recommend it.

You need to download and install WinZip. You can use it for free.

After Winzip is installed, you can usually just double click the file. It'll open in Winzip, and you will see some files inside of it. You can drag and drop these to your desktop or double click them top open them. Another good way to get the files out of a zip file is to right click the file (after WinZip is installed) and click "Extract to". Then you select where you want to put the files.

You need to open the zipped folder up, and to the left an option that says "Extract" or "Extract Contents". Click it, follow the wizard and you will have a text file on your desktop. Viola.
