This is what www.ancestry.com said about the name.
Gregg
English and Scottish: short form of Gregory or Gregor. Variants: Gregg, Greig (chiefly Scottish, and generally a transferred use of the surname so spelled, which is itself a derivative of the given name).
A Dictionary of First Names, Oxford University

Boyd
Scottish: habitational name from the island of Bute in the Firth of Clyde, the Gaelic name of which is Bód (genitive Bóid).
Hope this helps.

Rootsweb(free site) has more than 288,000 entries in family trees for Boyd. Just pull up the site and put Boyd or a complete name in the World Connect block. If you see something that interest you, probe on a name and it will take you to a screen that will give you the name and email address of the submitter.

Just understand that there are errors in family trees on the internet(free and paid websites). The information is user submitted and mostly not documented. Even when you see the same information repeatedbly by many different submitters, a lot of people copy without verifying.
