My friend is a perfectly healthy 20 year old female. Has had a recent medical examination and no problems were found.
I was talking to her on the phone just now and she complained of a sudden tightness in her chest and a loss of breath. She had bent down to pick something up when this occurred I think.
She has never had any breathing or chest complaints such as asthma etc and from what I can gather her blood pressure is fine also.

I know this isn't really the place for real medical advice but I'm just curious as to whether anyone may be able to offer some kind of information as to what could be the cause of a sudden chest pain like this.

Thanks.

Hi , I would advise her to go and have a full stress test at the hospital., she may have an intermittent heart problem. from the symptoms you describe. but would need to know more about her medical history to go further with prognosis. But having said all of this their are a lot of symptoms that mimic heart problems,
Best advice is get medical advice FAST.

I am a nurse and not a doctor but there could be a multitude of reasons why she experienced those symtoms. I would definately advise seeking medical assistance particularly if the symptoms persist, worsen or are accompanied by pain.

have you checked out magnesium deficiency symptoms they cause many symptoms of which you present some of which are a feeling of something being stuck in the throat, feeling as if you can't take a deep breath chest tightness nausea vomiting depression fatigue etc.

Could be a muscle spasm in her chest; could be an inflamed area between her ribs (costochondritis) plus several other things. If it is temporary and goes away on its own, this is usually insignificant. If it returns or comes back frequently, then she needs to have it checked out.

Was she under some stress at the time? That could cause that.

It wouldn't hurt to go back to the Doctor to get rechecked.

If she had a recent checkup I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about. Maybe it was gas or acid reflux. Hope she feels better.
