I have a friend who is coming to New York from Los Angeles in a couple of days and the thought occurred to me that the drastic change in temperature would be the perfect conditions for a head them to come down with a cold. I would like to give them some advice of what to do before coming that might prevent this from happening. Can anyone help?

There's no sure-fire way to keep from getting a cold, especially since your friend is probably traveling with other people. But there are things that can tip the odds in his favor.

1)Wash your hands a lot, especially after using a public restroom.
2)One thing that I think has helped me to avoid getting sick is dousing my toothbrush in alcohol in the mornings. That will kill any nasty germs hiding there.
3)Use garlic and echinecea, if you're not allergic to ragweed. Those do seem to boost your immune system.
4)Get good nutrition and enough water in general. That will help your body become stronger, so it can fight off infections.

Good luck, and enjoy your visit!

Using some Vitamin C for a week before they come might help boost their immune system. Second, wash their hands with soap and water frequently when touching public surfaces. Climate changes often send visitors back home with colds.

COLD AND FLU PREVENTION:

Using Q-tips, swab out your nostrils and ear canals with 3% hydrogen peroxide daily, and any time you are around any suspected germs. Gargle with 3% hydrogen peroxide to kill germs in the throat. Put 10 drops in a glass of pure water and mix it up, then drink it. Most people who do this regimen daily never have any problems with colds or the flu.

Eat 10 to 20 Goji Berries daily to stay healthy.

Using Q-tips, swab out your nostrils and ear canals with pure cold-pressed sesame oil daily. Swish some in your mouth before going to bed each night, then swallow it to kill germs, and keep your system healthy.

Drink a large glass of pure orange juice daily.
