I personally like the old system much better. One poster said it was designed to keep TV ratings up, and he is right, that is what is was designed for, but the facts are TV ratings for NA$CAR have been down since it's inception not just this year. I'm not a Jeff or Jimmie fan, but this was Jeff's championship, Jeff was the most consistent driver ALL year long. Jimmie was just the most consistent in the chase.

NO! I like the new system and I've been watching since 1979.
That's the program everyone signed up for and if winning 4 races in a row is undeserving I don't know what is.
They have been talking about giving out some kind of a trophy to the leader after race 26 which Gordon would have one.
I also think Matt Kenseth had nothing to do with them creating the chase at all. It was designed to keep interest in the season and keep tv ratings up since football starts before Nascar ends and it's working. How boring would it have been for Gordon to lock up the championship with 5 races to go. Very.
I realized I quit watching Busch after Edwards locked it up but I watched every truck race to the last lap like I did cup.

Yes they should. Some of the drivers in the bottom of the chase wouldn't have even made the top ten if they used the old scoring system. Let the driver's ability to drive determine there place in the standings, instead of NASCAR officials playing around with the rules to get their favorites in.

Dump the the chase, let the dang boys race it out...I don;t care about hollywood, media, etc, etc, etc...let the guy with the most points win, maybe award more pts for winning..but let every driver race till the dang end....I hate the chase a million times over..but hey I'm old school and that doesn't matter any more...This will never happen....but hey I'm always a fan... I was sitting back today watching a old Nascar movie today thinking about what if my dad, Dale Sr, Curtis Turner, Fireball Roberts, Bobby Isaac, Davey Allison would say about this chase..Well knowing my dad, Dale Sr and Curtis Turner, sorry I can't post what they would have to say about this chase crap....so just use your imagination...

YES--If it was good enough for Richard Petty and Dale Sr.(The 2 Greatest Nascar drivers EVER) to win 7 Championships a piece under the old system it is good enough for every driver NOW!!!!

you are right.
old system only give the winner of a race 10 more points than usual for the win. That is all they wanted in the first place not this Dumb A## thing they have now that doesn't and will never work chase.
I like your thinking we get this changed then lets get the top 35 canned. Than fall under the same category dumb.

I totally agree with Ray on the top 35 deal. I also think they should do away with the past championship provisionals. Qualifying should be just that... the fastest 43 cars that qualify should be the ones that race.

You sound like a Jeff Gordon fan. Stop whining and get with the program. The point system is here to stay. Too bad Jeff.
