If you are bored, you need to do something that interests you. dancing is a fabulous cardio routine, depending on what form of dance, is good for flexibility & strength.
What kind of cardio excercise did you have in mind? Running, walking?
As far as poriton control, you need to realise that if you want to look good, some sacrifice is required. my advice, dont portion anything, eat all you need to but make sure its all healthy. That way you can feel full, dont have to count but wont stack on the kilos.

Just try and focus on what your goal is. If you dont think your hot right now then try and make that your goal. Where you believe others will take you seriously and know your hot. Listen to music or something, watch TV...Help take your mind off of the other things youd RATHER be doing. Dancing does help you lose weight if you do it regularly.

i have a picture of me as my desktop background, it is 118 pounds heavier than i am now, it keeps me motivated enough to go to the gym 6 days a week

You can add one thing to that list , but it takes religous faith , if you've got that , say that every bite you don't eat goes to charity, and that the harder you work the stronger some sick child becomes , it takes faith,,, but ,,,
