If you are looking for leaf color , maple really does not grow well here. You can find Japanese Maple around individual yards in the area. I am not sure what you are asking. If you are looking for maple sap harvesting you have to go north in the spring.

You won't really find any maple tree attractions in California, since they aren't a native species, nor are they associated with California.

In general, the basic kinds of natural trees here are redwoods in coastal areas and the southern Sierra, oak trees in drier areas, and fir and pine types of trees in the mountains. For tree attractions, try Sequoia National Park, which has the world's largest trees.
