And people want to belong to such a violent and murderous religion, it's simply beyond reason in my view.

Have you not been reading through YQ? All the Muslims have shown their distaste and anger against the injustice that befell this woman. All the Muslims know that the ruling was incorrect and unjust, but how are we meant to change policy in another country that is following a different type of Islam to the rest of us? Your American government hasn't even spoken up against it - where is the American outcry? Also, where is the American people's outcry against the mistreatment of people in Iraq and guantanamo?

Correction: The Saudi Woman was convicted of "meeting with an unrelated man" -- women in saudi arabia cannot be in the company of an unrelated man. The sentence was doubled after the woman spoke with the media, instead of going through the Saudi appeal process.
Then the Saudi Woman and he aquaintance were abducted then raped. The rapists were convicted and originally recieved light sentences which were doubled soon after.
For all intensive purposes, the judge in the case was acting in accordance with Saudi law.
Therein lies the tragedy of this case -- the structure of the Saudi legal system. Women have virtually no rights even compared with highly conservative western countries. The judge needed the legal framework to allow for mercy -- which was not present for the victim due to exisitng law. The Saudi government needs to be pressured to re-examine it's laws.

Well not all Muslims think alike, nor are they like one big group of people who will "outcry together" on this issue.
I am sure there are a lot of Muslims in USA and in Middle East who think that it is a messed up situation. But what can they do?

She wasn't given that sentence for being raped but for violating the kingdom's strict Islamic law by not having a male guardian with her at the mall.
I am not in ANY way defending that law but let's at least get the facts straight.
Islamic law is based in part on the Old Testament. In the OT a woman who is raped is sold to her rapist.

This is for Primobal. Jesus did not allow this to happen, its man!!!
The entire Muslim Nations believe this to be the way to handle this sort of problem. The Saudi's and Iranian's are some of the worse as far as Justice of any kind toward women.

This is Islam. Her crime was that in order to establish the rape she had to "confess" to being alone with a man in the car. Even though other men were involved in the rape. Under Sharia law, in order for the crime of rape to occur, the woman had to have put herself in a sinful position to begin with, therefore, the males are lashed for rape and the female for adultery.
