3500 calories in a pound. but don't think of it that way. for many people thinking of it that way makes it seem too difficult to even bother trying. what you should be thinking about is intaking less calories than normal and getting out and moving a lot more on a daily basis. its much easier to think of going for a brisk walk an hour a day than to break everything down into caloric values. unless you are trying to enter a fitness body building competition theres really no need to be that specific. just know that the normal and most healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2lbs per week. so don't get on your scale every day, instead get on either at the end of each week or at the end of each 2 week segment. a more accurate way to track your weight loss progress is by measuing the circumference of your bust, waist, hips, biceps and thighs every week or two. best wishes :)
