I am not LDS, but one of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is because people tend to be mean and prejudiced.
I believe the question was not why is LDS not accepted as why don't all people join LDS, but why aren't people polite and nice toward them.
When Christianity first started, most people were either Jew or Pagan roman religion. They had to submit to a pagan Roman government.
True Christianity preaches love and kindness, not mud slinging slander, etc.
Most who claim to be Chrisitan are FAR from being like him and really have no intention of learning.

Because to many its considered a cult religion and non Christian.
For that they will never accept it. Anything slightly different from how they believe is evil or of satan,etc.
Not just mormonism that falls into this category and pretty much every religion out there IS cultish in one way or another if you read the definition of a cult then compare.
Just how the ball bounces when it comes to religion.
For those of us who accepted it and have since left its because we've studied and seen the reality beyond the lies upon which the church was built.

I dont know what the LDS religion is, but you dont need others to accept it in order for you to believe in it.

LDS does not pass the tests of compatibility with the Bible, Apostolic tradition and Reason/Natural Law,sorry to say. With its polytheism/henotheism,men becoming gods,etc, Mormonism is Christo-Gnostic rather than Historic Christian which Catholicism,Orthodoxy and Trinitarian Protestantism are.

It is accepted by those who follow it. If those who follow it have a problem with those who don't follow it not accepting it then I would suggest the followers shouldn't be so overly sensitive to others opinions.

Because they preach a different gospel than that of the Bible. The same holds true of Jehovah's Witnesses, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and some Catholics.

because they combine, paganism, christianity, freemasondry and call it christianity.
