"Blood" in this instance means "blood relations" or family. So it means that family is more important than others, and if we have to choose, we choose family.
Your friends are your friends for a little while, but your family is your family for the rest of your life. Love and support your family, because someday you may need your family to love and support you.

That your loyalties should always go with your family or blood relations first.
I personally think that Love is thicker than blood.
My father, brother, cousins, etc have all drifted away and only call on me when they "need something done". This has caused hurt feelings over the years and my friends have been way more loyal than my blood relations, so my loyalties lie with the ones who really care for me.
