Last night, my girlfriend (I'm gay) was charged with Menacing, Obstruction of Telephone Service, Assault 3rd Degree, Possession of Illegal Weapon, and Criminal Mischeif. She is not eligible for bail. This was domestic violence. I could understand why they wouldn't want us to have contact if she was out on jail, but why can't I visit her in jail or talk to her on the phone? These are supervised places where she can't hurt me.
She's never done anything like this and we live together. I love her, I don't know if I'd go back to her though, but I just need to talk to her about what happened. I need to ask her why she did what she did. Is there anything I can do?

She will be allowed to make a call if it is in regards to obtaining bail, or speaking to an attorney. You will just have to wait until she calls you. Personal calls are not allowed.

Because it sounds like you are the victim in the crimes that she is in jail for and we don't make a habit out of letting the victim contact the suspect while they are in custody. Contact between victim & suspect "usually" is not a positive experience, especially so soon after the incident.

As someone else said, you are going to have to wait until she contacts you or gets out of custody.

Talk to the people in charge of the jail she's being held in. Sometimes the person who is in custody has to put you on their visitors list before you can have contact with them. If your girlfriend really is violent, please consider your safety if you do get back with her - you don't need that.

Dump her, she obviously doesn't love you back. Do you really think its going to stop? No, it isn't. Dump her now and get out of this abusive relationship while you still can.
