QUOTE - "Prime Minister Gordon Brown has treated the armed services with "contempt" and "disinterest", a former chief of the defence staff has told a Lords debate. Admiral Lord Boyce said the decision to give one person - Des Browne - the jobs of both defence and Scottish secretary was an "insult" at a time of war. Another former defence chief, General Lord Guthrie, said Mr Brown had been "unsympathetic" to the military. .."
Will you be voting for Gordon Brown to remain as Prime Minister after next General Election - where the PUBLIC CHOOSE?

I'll give you my lads comments on the state of the forces - straight from the front line in Afghanistan.
"Donat has got it right - sh!t morale, sh!t equipment and sh!t accommodation!! Our CO has totally lost it - we've got a 32% resignation rate, he can see the unit falling apart around him and he can't do a fecking thing about it"
My lad was supposed to get 1 weeks leave this month to get him away from the front line for R&R - that's been canceled due to manning levels. In the UK he lives in a block with 1 leaking washing machine between 50 men, the heating hasn't worked for 18 months and the lads had a whip round to mend the block TV aerial because the base couldn't afford it.
He spent over £700 of his own money buying kit for deployment to Iraq the first time round.
Part of this kit was a 5 litre "camel" for water - the directive from the MOD being that all personnel engaged on desert patrols were required to carry a minimum 5 litres of water. Kit issued by the MOD for this purpose - a 1 pint standard issue bottle!!
He still buys his own boots because those supplied fall to bits inside a fortnight.
His specialised job requires him, along with the rest of his section, to spend 3 to 5 nights out in the field, on return to their base they are given 2 days off - one of which they spend in the field hospital helping out due to lack of medical personnel - a job for which they received training prior to deployment.
That's part of the reality in today's HM Forces. A situation brought about by allowing people to run the show who's experience of war is from the joystick of a playstation console.
8 cutbacks in 10 years and now labour are about to spend a small percentage of the money they removed in an attempt to repair some of the damage they caused - too little, too late.
Vote labour?? I'd sooner vote for sticking a rough pineapple up my @rse and whistling dixie!!!

I didn't vote Labour last time and I won't be voting for them this time. I'm old enough to remember the shambles they left last time they were in! I think it's not only an insult to the Forces but to the Country of his Birth! The Scottish Secretary should be concentrating on one thing too! He's a Scottish MP and the people of Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath should kick him out! After all even if Labour won they couldn't have a leader without a Constituency, Could they?

I shall certainly not be voting for Labour and I support the Service chiefs, serving and retired, one hundred percent. Labour has always had an uneasy relationship with the military and has never respected them. How can the party of CND run the Armed Services? The sickest joke of all was Tony Blair (ex CND) turning warmonger in the space of 20 years. They haven't a clue about the military and nor do most civilians.

Its a quote from a newspaper of comments made by "a former Chief Of Defence Staff" giving an opinion.
Sounds like a case of "Sour Grapes" to me!
And you have to remember the Labour Party* have been responsible for cutting the UK Armed Forces to the bone with recent spending cuts.
Seems like Labour are getting the stage set for Commissar Putin's World Take-Over Bid!!
Once a Commie Red Party, always a Commie Red Party!
For Tucksie:
Are You another MORONIC Conspiracy NUT??
The U.N. has NOT got a standing Army, pray tell where the U.N. can hide a quarter of a million men?? And from which NATIONS are these men from???

Did you notice that the above quotations use words like 'insult' and 'contempt' which are not designed to explain facts but instead to enflame human emotion.
I think that we voters are being used - but by whom?
Chiefs of Defence Staff and Admirals don't tend to be picked from our ranks and so it's natural that they wouldn't like a government so dedicated to improving educational and career opportunities for us all - the ones that the Chiefs and Admirals of our society probably think of as 'the Great Unwashed'.
What is more dangerous is the way the press and media amplify such stories. In whose interests are they acting?
In steering a central path (to most people's relief) between extreme ideologies of either the right or the left, this governement has actually been amazingly successful in improving life chances for everyone while running the economy successfully too.
We could try to look objectively at the detractors of the Labour government and ask ourselves the question, "Who will really gain if they make me believe this story and make me change my vote?"

Brown as with Bush will get rid of the countries armed forces in order that a standing army of the UN can take over. There are at present 250,000 UN servicemen in America along with Russian servicemen.

Certainly not. I can think of no reason to vote for him or his spin-obsessed incompetent party. The way he and his predecessor have treated our forces is a disgrace and the former senior officers are spot-on in their condemnation.
