Mormons aren't real big on the Word of God. They're more interesting in doctrines of demons.

1 Timothy 4:1 - "But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons..."

Ooo this is interesting. It goes on to say:

"...by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage (Catholicism) and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth (Judaism)."

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)

This is not saying that God is not man, it is saying that God does not lie like mankind does.

Unlike what Nina says, we do think for ourselves, we read and study and investigate on our own; we do not have to take only what our leaders say. Many, many members do not know what the leaders say, because they don’t listen to Conference or read the Church magazines.

We are big on reading and studying and learning the Word of God, Richardson. We are Christian, and we want to know what God would have us to do.

We read the King James Version of the BIble. We studied the Old Testament last year, and the New Testament this year. We read and discuss what we read. We do not use any other source in our Sunday School classes, only the Scriptures.

We are encouraged to read the Scriptures on our own, and with our families, each day. Do you do that? Or do you take one person's word as gospel, and not study on your own?

It says that God does not lie....
He talks the talk, then walks the walk.... every time, guaranteed. Pretty nice- something we can count on!

BTW- It also says that God isn't like us. It says nothing about what He WAS like, just what He IS like....... which leaves what He WAS like up to speculation....

Fascinating... You asked a question about what Mormons believe, and so far, of the 8 answers you've gotten, only 3 have been Mormons......

No, He is not a man, like US. He is perfected, exalted, etc.

Let's quote the whole scripture at least. Not just part of it to support your argument. God is not a man that He should lie. Basically saying God is not a lying man. So really it supports what Mormons already know to be true. So thanks for bringing that up and proving our point.

Who are you asking to reason, those who believe Lehi sailed the Arabian Peninsula and landed in Central America 600 yrs BC? They never looked at a map of the ocean currents, where the winds alone would NEVER land them anywhere near the point they claim!

And besides that, the Phoenicians dominated navigation back in that time. Why the heck a man and his family built a ship unlike any other, under their noses, but the National Geographic and Smithsonian institutions sustain that the account has historic value only to those who believe it?

And thank you Plastik Punk for show people just how arrogant some LDS can be, Bravo!

Please, Please tell us then, oh wise one, where does it say in the Bible that God is an exalted man? That he lived in a galaxy far, far away on a world much like our own.

Hosea 11:9, God is saying here, that he isn't a man.

It says that he does not have the faults, failings and sins of a mortal man not that He never did.
