Call the bank as soon as they open. Only they can take action, once they are made aware.

Each day billions of EFT transactions are processed successfully, things being what they are a few of them get fouled up. It normally happens when the transaction is part processed and the line fails, then the terminal will automatically re-process it later. There are checks built in to prevent duplication, but (as you can see) occasionally some transactions will sneak through.

This can be really annoying for the poor consumer, especially if they don't have a lot of funds to cover the foul up.

Good news is the banks and merchants reconcile everything each day and 99.9% of these problems are automatically found and corrected.

Even though I used to work in a large commercial bank dealing with exactly this issue, I would alway recommend calling the credit card provider/bank and explaining what has happened and finding out when they plan to fix it. I would also ensure they understand that all fees and charges relating to the incident will be reversed. I would also record the time, date and person you had that conversation with. whilst these things rarely get ugly it is worth keeping this information in case you need it.

It generally takes 2-4 days for any correction to be processsed (I can only speak for Australia where I live - might be different in your country).

And yes, It has happened to me a few times as well, but they have always corrected the issue.

good luck - it is a pain, but don't panic, you will get your cash back.

You need to call home bargains and tell them they double charged you for a product. They'll then essentially process a "return" on one of them. It may take a few days and might appear at first like the charge went through, but if they take it back off the card it will go away once the bank catches up with the store. It happens to everyone because sometimes registers screw up or there are cashier errors. This is an issue that can be easily solved simply by talking to the business. If anything, go back to the store and speak to the same cashier who rang up the item. I'm sure she'll remember the incident and can then remove the charge easily in the store.

I would go back to the shop where double charge took place and they should be able to do point of sale reversal.
It happened to me once, I had to take a copy of the bank statement and show it to the manager and they reversed the transaction for me on the spot.
You can also go to your bank and sign a declaration that you have not authorized that transaction and they usually give you back the money within 10 banking days.
