OH YOUR GOD! That is the best observational and cynical question/quote that I have heard all week!

You are a legend in your own right...

Oh boy. I think some of these answers were offered by robots. pre-programmed and uninformed.

"Robot" was originally the Czech word for "indentured laborer" - someone who was essentially a serf or slave for a limited period to pay off a debt. The word came to us via playwright Karel Capek, in his 1924 work," R.U.R. Rossum's Universal Robots." (John Clute, "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Science Fiction," 1999, p. 54)

Even BEFORE churches, societies created "robots." But particularly in the medieval Christian church, as well as in some parts of the Roman Catholic Church up to modern times, religion's job has been to impose uniformity, direct behavior, and ensure compliance with authority.

In the case of those religious groups that oppose established authority, the intent is not so much to overthrow it as to attempt to force authority to agree to impose standards espoused by religions - such as bans on abortion, women's clothing from topknot to toenail, compulsory attendance at services, and religious authorities' veto over legislation.

After all, religions are founded on "revealed truth," particularly in the un-scientific arenas of behavior and relationships. Those who KNOW the "truth" feel obligated to shove the truth down the throats of everyone else, and make sure ALL conform

Now THAT's robot-like behavior. In particular, robot-like because THERE ARE NO INTELLIGENT ROBOTS, YOU IDIOTS. THEY ONLY DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD.

And religions were imposing THOSE principles at least 10,000 years before Christ, so this is not simply a slam on Christians. Organized religion has always been a social disease.

I would beg to differ with you. With the many different denominations, view etc.. You are saying that 75% of both Canada and the USA are robotic and agree on all points? That is absurd.

Religion and Science are not opposing forces. Look up Pierre Teilhard Chardin for how many Christians hold to Science and Christianity.

That's getting very close to being why I believe in God but not religion.

That doesn't make any sense. Bigots were the first to make robots, as you should well know.
