Dying is pretty similar to falling asleep. The difference is what gets you to the point of dying. Not everyone has an easy period right before death. I believe the spirit often leaves the body in sleep, enters the spiritual realm, and returns to the body before awakening. Dreams seem really real, because they often are, but in the spiritual realm. When we die we also enter this spiritual realm again, and find ourselves without our old body to return to. We must eventually find the neccessary stimulation and comfort from the right type of flesh body. Reincarnation of the continuous type keeps us in the reality of this universe, not allowing an escape to an alternative reality more to our liking, after we die. A respect for the hardship and struggle of this reality, that brings out the most in the human spirit and human potential, is very important if we are ever going to, with the help of science and technology, make this world a better place to be. Being good at the struggle of life, will help one in any future lives.

Of course dying is scary! It's the one thing in your whole life you HAVE to do alone. And it's a change to a state you have never experienced, whether you believe in an afterlife or that you simply cease to be. Fortunately, for most of us, the dying process will remove that fear by rendering us comatose at the proper time.

We've got a Spooky two or three on this quessie.

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" - if you've got the right connections which you can get any time you choose.

There are always plenty of healthy atheists running around shouting the odds, but I have never yet found one on a death bed!

You know what scares me? The idea of coming back and doing it all over again! --the living AND the dying. I don't WANT to believe in reincarnation, but unfortunately it just rings true to me.

I'm not afraid of being dead. What worries me is WHY? You know, was it cancer or serial murderer, plane crash or poison? The more time i have to be afraid, the worse it will be.

I honestly don't know what God has in store for me when this life is over.

The process of dying can be painful, lonely, smelly and undignified, but death is nothing to be afraid of because it gives a release from suffering.

After we die our bodies decompose and return to the soil.

There is no 'afterlife'.

I think its quite unfair not to have Noah's life span. I worry about dieing, don't you. I go to the doctor and take care of my health so I am less likely to have an early death.

I worry more about having to live with great pain.

How did Jesus demonstrate what resurrection will mean for mankind in general?

John 11:11, 14-44: “[Jesus said to his disciples:] ‘Lazarus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.’ . . . Jesus said to them outspokenly: ‘Lazarus has died.’ . . . When Jesus arrived, he found he [Lazarus] had already been four days in the memorial tomb. . . . Jesus said to her [Martha, a sister of Lazarus]: ‘I am the resurrection and the life.’ . . . He cried out with a loud voice: ‘Lazarus, come on out!’ The man that had been dead came out with his feet and hands bound with wrappings, and his countenance was bound about with a cloth. Jesus said to them: ‘Loose him and let him go.’” (If Jesus had thus called Lazarus back from a state of bliss in another life, that would have been no kindness. But Jesus’ raising Lazarus up from a lifeless state was a kindness both to him and to his sisters. Once again Lazarus became a living human.)

Mark 5:35-42: “Some men from the home of the presiding officer of the synagogue came and said: ‘Your daughter died! Why bother the teacher any longer?’ But Jesus, overhearing the word being spoken, said to the presiding officer of the synagogue: ‘Have no fear, only exercise faith.’ . . . He took along the young child’s father and mother and those with him, and he went in where the young child was. And, taking the hand of the young child, he said to her: ‘Tal′i·tha cu′mi,’ which, translated, means: ‘Maiden, I say to you, Get up!’ And immediately the maiden rose and began walking, for she was twelve years old. And at once they were beside themselves with great ecstasy.” (When the general resurrection takes place on earth during Christ’s Millennial Reign, doubtless many millions of parents and their offspring will be overjoyed when they are reunited.)

I believe in Reincarnation. I personally don't want to die, at least not until I am really really old. But I know that death is just the continuation of my journey, not the end of it.

Personally, I am not afraid of dieing.
I believe that my energy will go back out into the Universe to be reused in whatever way it can be used. Perhaps I will come back to earth, perhaps to another planet.
