Psychological Meaning: Wolves are usually seen as something threatening that attacks during the night when we are most vulnerable. In dreams they can represent everything you are afraid of in yourself. This may include self-destructive tendencies, aggression or uncontrolled sexual desire. It could also represent a worldly trouble such as a financial problem i.e. ‘keeping the wolf from the door’. Celtic revivalists give the wolf a better press: it is your instinctive nature, your familiar that guides you through the forests of the night.

I think the 2 wolves may symbolize something you are avoiding (a friend, family member ect.)
1 of the wolves you locked in a room might have symbolized ignoring the thing you are avoiding, and the one that vanished might have meant you will forget about the thing you are avoiding and then it will eventually come back. Then you can no longer ignore the thing you are evoiding (or the wolf) and you must face it now. So when you hugged it, it meant you resolved your problem and the problem died.
Kind of far-fetched I know, but once you read this a couple of times, it may make more sense.

2 wolves sound like they might be someone you know. maybe your siblings. But the wolves represents the nature of a issue or person to prey without mercy on someone. The one you locked in a room represents something that you got a handle on and was able to put away. Waiting for some time.....represents a period where issues died down and time healed the issue. Second wolf wanted to resolve and reconcile with you and once you did, the wolf nature went away.

You feel lonely. I read on the website listed under "sources" that wolves mean loneliness; perhaps you have had some fallings-out in your friendship groups? The fact that you locked the wolf in a room in your dream may signify that you feel trapped by your own friends; you sometimes wish you could just shut them out of your head! You talked to it and hugged it, because - maybe - despite all of your friction and schisms you still really like and value the person/people in question.

Negatively, it represents hostility and aggression. It may also reflect an uncontrollable force or situation in your life. In particular, if the wolf is white, then it signifies valor and victory. You have the ability to see the light even in your darkest hours.
To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are a loner by choice.

Sounds to me like if you make peace with something that is troubling you are scaring you, it will be resolved and go away. (as you talked with the wolf, you embraced it and it died). Perhaps the wolf that vanished represents something similar that you already dealt with. Don't overlook what's not deep, could be something as simple as an outstanding debt.
