I'm a junior in high school, and I have VERY bad study habits. I procrastinate too much, although I really don't want to. I try to get started on assignments way before they are due, but somehow, I always get sidetracked. I feel like I'm really lazy too. I mean, I'm very physically active, and I'm involved in a lot of sports, but when it comes to studying, I get very lazy.

I feel like I can't change my study habits, because I just HATE studying. If this continues, does that mean I'll fail in college?

I have a 3.5 GPA and I've taken lots of AP, and honors classes.

I'm sure if I just put more effort, i would have had a 4.0.

I think you are underestimating yourself, given the GPA and the AP track record.

Yes, you will have to take it up a notch in college. No, you will not wash out. I remember the first day in college--my literature professor assigned us to read Walden--due in 4 days, with questions a great deal deeper than what had come in high school. Each course was similar. I resolved to make it through. Medical school was a similar eye-opener. You face the challenges and you get by.

Don't worry. For the moment, be 100% where you are. Each phase of life is way too short and too precious to be dreading the next one.

you will be if you really want to. Remember the only person that can change bad studying habits is you. Going to college is such a huge thing in life, you'll have an opportunity many don't have, and you'll have better chances of having a good job, a succesful career, etc. Start identifying what gets you distracted. Don't study in front of the pc. Turn off tv, music, messenger, whatever. Concentrate if what you need to do. Like you said, if you put a little effort into it you'll get better, since you are doing fine in school with your GPA it shouldn't be harder to have a 4.0 GPA. Good luck hun, think about the future!!

As a man (woman) thinketh, so is he. I know that you can get a higher "average" and go upward with your grade point average. What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, WHO can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. I know that you will succeed. Peace, Love and God Bless.

yes. you need to change if you wanna be sucessful in college. it's extremely hard if you don't stay on top of things. that being said, you have pretty high intelligence to pull of the grades you do...all colleges offer some sort of study skill assistance or course...think of it as a necessary evil....
