You will have to pay Self Employment tax 15.3% but the employer half is tax deductible. This is the Employer half and the employee half of Social Security and Medicare. The IRS has several laws regarding who can and cant be classified as an independent contractor, check the IRS website to see if this is legal. Advantages include that you have more control over how you do your work, and taxes are not taken out of your check so you can choose to pay them whenever.
