Depends on what you mean by "salvage title"

If the car is a vehicle that was a total loss (salvaged) and has been rebuilt - you can have those inspected by the dmv and get a title re-issued to it. In many states, the title will be a regular title, but it will be "branded". That means it will say on it that it is a rebuilt salvage vehicle.

If the car is a total loss and it has not been rebuilt and the dmv has issued a salvaged title to it- most companies will not insure it until it has been rebuilt, inspected and a branded title issued to it.

Simple answer is yes. The insurance company NEEDS to know it is a salvaged title so make sure you tell them. If repairs have been done properly the normal person would NOT be able to see the repair work. The insurance company will probably want pictures when they insure the vehicle so they can have "before" pictures in case of accident. But yes they will insure the vehicle.

The value drops significantly, resale is next to nothing, and you'd probably have to pay slightly more for insurance. Also, a salvaged vehicle isn't as safe as a normal vehicle, because it's no longer structurally as sound. If you get in a crash with a salvaged vehicle, it'd be worse because the damage protection was lost in the first crash and the frame could still be damaged.

Certainly you can insure it. The salvage title tells you that it was sold to a salvager. It doesn't really tell you anything about the car itself, but it would usually mean that the car was believed to be damaged so that the repair cost exceeded its value.

Does that mean structurally damaged? No. It means damage that costs money to fix.

Well, it's really hard, and you won't get collision coverage on it. You won't even be able to register it, until it's been repaired to be roadworthy and inspected (then you get a salvage/repaired title).

Go talk to your agent about how to insure it, and what to do.
