Just because my mom found out her cholesterol is a little high, and that oatmeal may help lower cholesterol, my mom insists on eating oatmeal with every single meal, she doesnt understand the ill logic. She always complains later than she ate too much and her stomach hurts because she ate a complete meal with a bowl of oatmeal. *sigh* its embarrassing, but my mom becomes crazy sometimes and i cant get through to her, how can i explain it? she even wants to eat oatmeal with thanksgiving dinner, how unthanksgiving is that?

Tell her to eat oatmeal first by herself and then eat dinner 15 min later with everyone else. She won't get so sick and you won't have to watch her eat oatmeal.

Plus, there's lots of other things that help lower cholesterol. Tell her that garlic is great, too. Or maybe you could go and get some Soy or Promise butter (good for high cholesterol) and make her some Oatmeal Cookies. That would taste better than a bowl of oatmeal.. for sure.

Omi goodness she sure loves oatmeal! But there are alot of other foods that lower cholesterol. Here are some : blueberries, pistachios, walnuts, almonds, avacados, salmon, any kind of fish, yogurt, soy, and anything with omega 3 fatty acids. Try to give her a new twist on reality!

do a websearch on foods that lower cholesterol and expand her options, eating the same thing constantly surely isn't the best way to go, and I'd bet that oat meal isn't the most effective of the cholesterol dropping foods

Google extra extra virgin olive oil for her. A couple of tablespoons a day will fix her up...cute story lol.

btw tell her Oatmeal everyday sprinkled with 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed (any health food store)...but just as a breakfast meal or as Tracy said she'll soon tire of it...lol

she needs to vary her fiber intake. oats are a good source of fiber but there are much better tasting ones like lentils, beans and brussels sprouts. lots of info on the website below:
